Go Stanford!!!

UK vs WF Game Link

I hope so!

Whoever that color announcer was for the Marshall vs Clemson game, Xavier soccer coach, he was not very flattering towards CUSA soccer. He was basically like yeah they're good league. But he couldn't stop waxing poetic for the ACC.

Additionally, he pulled the gravest of grave sins. He called Marshall as being from MORGANTOWN, WV!

I find that most coaches end up being terrible play by play guys, unless you're John Madden!

Did anyone else notice these things?
That Xavier announcer pulled the old Marshall should be getting tired because they're not the powerful Clemson from the old ACC, and then the opposite happened...Marshall turned on the jet fuel toward the end of the second overtime. It left him genuinely stunned.
This was a powerful win for our program and for CUSA. Proud to represent guys!
Kentucky 0
5 Wake Forest 1

Kentucky for the most part has dominated possession but let WF string like 8-9 passes together to score the only goal so far.
Congrats to Marshall!!!

Also any day uk loses is a good day--I don't care if they are in our soccer conference.

I just looked Andy Fleming up. He was the HC at Xavier from 2010-2019. His best team went 15-6-2 in 2014, their highest ranking that year was at #13 and lost in the Sweet 16 to unranked Providence 2-1.

I'll take Coach Grassie over this numbskull any day.

...and then there was one
Congratulations Marshall! Keep it going.

I wonder when the last time a CUSA team beat the #1 ranked team in any sport? Soccer or baseball would be my guess.

I know Rice did it in baseball some years back. But this was awhile ago - Mark Texeiera was still playing college baseball at the time (for Georgia Tech).
Congrats Herd!

La Tech took 1 of 3 from No. 1 Arkansas in baseball this season, but its pretty unusual as a whole

He is still the coach there. He came across as pretty condescending to me. The biggest slap in the face was when he made the "Morgantown" comment, despite the fact he has brought Xavier to Huntington during his tenure.

OOO Well I'll still take Coach Grassie over this piece of #%^ any day:

Coach Grassie Coaching Record

University of Charleston HC for 6 years
WVIAC/MEC Coach of the Year 4 times
99-20-1 Record
6 WVIAC/MEC Titles
1 Sweet 16
2 Elite 8
1 Final 4
2 Title Games

Marshall University (4th year)
CUSA Coach of the Year 2 times
42-24-10 (26-5-5 in the last 2 years)
2 CUSA Ttiles
16 Ranked Wins (Beat #1 Clemson on PKs)
2 NCAAs
1 Sweet 16
1 Elite 8 (Season Not Over)
15 straight weeks in the Top 25 (Currently #10, Highest Rank #8)

The "MorganHole" reference wasn't a slip of the tongue either I don't think, it was an indirect swipe of Marshall for him. As you have said he has brought Xavier to Huntington, so he knows exactly where Marshall is.
I knew I wasn't the only one that hated him!
Play well Marshall!

Coach Grassie has this team playing well and believing they can win. In the post game press conference after the Clemson game he was ask if beating the #1 team in the nation was big for him and he responded with "Our goal isn't to beat the #1 team, our goal is to be the #1 team". You can just see confidence exude from him.

Marshall wasn't the most polished team (can't say athletic) on the pitch Thursday against Clemson (Clemson has 16 4 star kids and 9 that were top 100 of their recruiting class) but for the majority of the game they made Clemson play at their pace, Marshall controlled the ball 55% of the game. And the free kick from Max Schneider at the 16 min mark, 27 yards out was amazing. Their GK had no chance at saving that kick. It definitely made up for the horrible turnover he had against ODU, just outside their box earlier in the year that resulted in a goal and a 1-1 tie instead of a win.

There were some talking on the Marshall board about Grassie getting poached by a bigger school but this is unlikely. Grassie has a competitive salary with everyone in the ACC even. Grassie makes 120K a year and Mike Noonan at Clemson only makes 105K a year.
