I dunno, except I'm certainly not ready to take this kind of disrespect from Albany, of all schools. Got to be some Tribe pride resurrected this weekend.

Nick Muse and Nate Evans, both, back in the two deep.

You clearly mean that the stars on offense will have a big day, if we are going to score 35 points. However, if the defense is giving up 31 points, then that doesn't sound like a big day to me. A great day would be 0, a good day would be less than 15, and an okay day would be 21. A day giving up 31 could easily be a loss.

The focus of my comments were centered on the offense. This is the week we finish drives, limit turnovers and put some points on board.

Albany can put points on the board, they also give up points, thus the high scoring game.

BTW, I couldn’t guess a score if I tried. I predicted we’d put 30 on Colgate.
Watching the game vs Colgate, I'm convinced that we beat ourselves more than Colgate beat us, but both the offense and defense looked better than they have for stretches between errors. The good news is that if we work on the unforced errors, which we should be able to fix, we should have a good outcome, if the team continues to improve.

I agree LeadBolt and I think most posters here, and most people that watched the game and understand football to some degree, would agree with you. The stat lines were near identical, except for the turnover margin. Being roughly equal in most stats, with us having the advantage in some categories, yet the score being as lopsided as it was, shows that we could have been in that game - but instead we were responsible for the loss. Turnovers, dropped passes, missed kicks, bad snaps ... the list goes on of small executional errors on that took us out of the game.

The big thing this saturday will be getting the turnovers under control. The next will be finishing drives.
Albany has been allowing points to lesser competition, so if we execute plays as we are supposed to and don't turn the ball over, we should finally see some offense at Zable.

This is an Albany team that was starting to hit its stride with wins over easier competition, then ran into a bye week, I'm hoping that cools their pass offense off some.

For what it's worth Sagarin has them as very very slight favorites.
The Colgate game came down to three things:
1) They had more chunk plays and moved the ball quickly down field into scoring position....we didn't
2) We stopped ourselves more than they stopped us. They also didn't make stupid mistakes. Seemed very well coached.
3) They played with more intensity and played after the whistle consistently without being penalized.

I don't think we are better than Colgate although I do think we would have very different outcomes if we played them a few more times this year.

Yeah, I wouldn't put too much faith in the 2-deep game notes-Both Muse and Evans were listed on the 2-deep for Colgate too
We have faced three very good teams in a row and not been competitive in any of those matchups, whatever the causes. Albany has not been very good against less competition. URI was up 45-7 in the 3rd quarter against Albany before giving up 19 meaningless 4th quarter points. This should be an opportunity for this young team to finally show that this season may have some life, since we should have an added advantage playing at home, and our offensive and defensive lines will not be overwhelmed. It's got to start this Saturday, though. Otherwise, we are looking at two consecutive, uncharacteristic seasons as the CAA doormat. Hard for me to believe Laycock is OK to let things end that way.

Some poster board material for the D "Agreed, we are in the 5th game of the season...time to show something. Honestly I foresee a 10+ point win. Our offense is good and their defense is horrible... ":mafia:
I think we could have close to 500 yards total offense. We had 350ish against a very good Colgate defense. It's the points that we need to put up.

Thoroughly disagree that we were not competitive against Colgate. Score alone, sure. And I know that matters most. But stats, aside from the turnover differential were very similar. We missed a chip shot FG. Missed a catchable TD pass. Passed up another field goal (though 2 of those may have been same drive, not sure.). Bottom line is we created our own problems last Saturday. The lines were not overwhelmed. OL protected Shon relatively well but did little to help the running game. DL primarily the reason why Colgate rushed for a yard less than they did per carry coming into the game. One sack finally and 2 hurries were better than weeks before but not enough. I see that coming along. Bottom line, we gave them probably 10 easy receptions with soft coverage that helped their offense and shot ourselves in the foot offensively.
Agree with what 3455 said.

Also, Colgate is still a Top 20 Passing Defense averaging just 172 yards allowed per game. That takes into account the 251 yards we put up on them!

Which leads me to this week, and confidence going into the game...

Albany is giving up 230+ pass yards a game. I think some of the doom and gloom talk about this offense will subside (at least for a week) after the game this Saturday.

Also, Albany is right there at the bottom of FCS with us when it comes to turnover margin. We have a -4 margin, they are at -5.

Saturday could come down to whoever cleans up their game and takes better care of the ball.
Well, while many on this board are looking to Saturday for the Tribe's first conference win (I am hoping for it...), the betting public doesn't seem to be in the same frame of mind.

The odds came out yesterday, with Albany being a 2.5 point favorite. Overnight, the line went to Albany favored by 11.5. That is a heck of a jump. The Tribe may be the biggest Home Dog in the CAA this weekend.
Wow that really is a huge jump!

Well, you know what they say...fade the public!

Tribe by 4

24-20
I just went and looked at the stats for the season and besides not scoring much the only real glaring problem is the yards per carry. It isn't the backs, it's the line. If they can keep improving and coming together I think we may see more offense. We need Muse back too.

I say we surprise the odds makers and win 30-14.
If I knew how to place an offsite bet, I'd take 11.5 vs Albany all day long.
Albany game notes finally up:

Some Quick Hits:

3 time CAA Rookie of the Week at receiver. He leads all of FCS with 148.7receiving yards per game. Hopefully someone can step up and cover the kid.

They are missing a bunch Safeties to injury (see: Expect some deep attacks to Dedmon and Jack) and are just very young in general on the defensive side.

They have allowed 11 sacks. Time for one (or more) of our DL to have a breakout game. Dial up the pressure and force some bad throws from a QB who has thrown 11 already.
If you haven’t seen the CAA piece on Rae Smith, you need to. He is a great story. Just a quality young man.

Only heard great things about him. I understand his best friend and HS teammate recently died. Keep your strength, Rae.

I don't know - it didn't seem that disrespectful. We are pretty terrible and they didn't harp on it too badly.
