Fans will recognize the name at QB for the Danes. They are led by fifth-year senior quarterback Vincent Testaverde, son of longtime NFL quarterback Vinny Testaverde. Started his career at Texas Tech, then transferred to Miami, and now to Albany after not getting any playing time at Miami.

He has performed well so far, and their passing offense is the only thing going for them at the moment. They currently rank second in the conference in passing offense, just behind our opponent the following week, Towson. He has been turnover prone though so our DBs should be playing aggressively.

Hopefully our defense can get it together and get some third down stops. We are allowing conversions on roughly 50% of attempts.

The offense didn't put up terrible numbers, but HAVE to learn to execute in the redzone and get in the endzone.

Limit turnovers and finish drives and we have a chance.

Albany is coming off a bye week.

Anyone with insight on:
1) if and when we may get back Nate Evans and Nick Muse,
and,
2) why Hooper handled our lone kickoff against Colgate, as opposed to Jake Johnston, who was lights out in the first 3 games...did he get injured at JMU? Like to see Johnston given the chance on FG's.

My only guess is that they are going to redshirt Johnston (again that's just a guess).

No insight on these other than to note Nate Evans was dressed out on Saturday so I assume he will be back this week.

Johnston reshirted last year.

Seems like Nick and Nate would be prime candidates to recoup their redshirt year.

Interesting on both Muse and Evans. I wondered if there was a chance that we may consider moving one of the backs to more of a slot receiver or H-Back position. We have so many and from what I can tell Funderburke, Evans, Wright, Britt and Anderson can all play. With all the hype about the receivers we have very little coming back next year and the younger guys aren't cracking the lineup.

There’s a lot to adjust to in a position move. I don’t see it, with the exception of possibly Evans. WR is one of the hardest positions to learn, although they have simplified the position a ton this season in hopes of getting the younger players on the field. In the past each receiver had to learn each receiver position. This year, they only have to learn one and that’s where they play, much easier to be mentally prepared each week. Still, learning technique and getting sound in that area requires time.

Next year there is Christian, Mague, Lowery, Watson, Conlan, along with others are coming back.

This spring will be a big year for each of them. The new coaches will only have film on them to evaluate. How they finish and how they approach the off season will impact their role next year.

Dedmon, Armstrong all 4 year players that have held off the young guys from taking their spot. Along with Kinder, 3 years since transitioning from QB, all will be gone. It’s time for the underclassmen to step up.

I forgot about Giles. I hear you about switching positions, but other than Mague none of the receivers are physically intimidating. Maybe just getting the ball into the back's hands more is a solution. The eye test tells me that we are in need of more than dedmon this year and if the young guys can't get on the field now there will need to be a lot of development in the spring. Bring on the spread offense

Lowery one of the fastest on the team and has skills. Conlan can challenge DB’s vertically. Justin Dulaney could be the fastest guy on the team. Watson is going to be good too. Mague has earned more reps this season and will be better because of the experience. A healthy Christian will be critical next year too.

You are right, it never hurts to get the ball into the hands of playmakers.

It will be interesting to see what direction this program goes next year.

We have some very talented players, I hope that they can find a way to have some success these last 6 games.

It hasn't been pretty so far, but the competition has also been stiff and will continue that way. We have played three nationally ranked teams, and after this game saturday, our next four opponents are currently Top 25 teams. Maine is sliding though, and could be out of the rankings by then.

Either way, this is a game we need to execute and not shoot ourselves in the foot, because on paper it is the most winnable game left.

I couldn’t tell you anything about Watson that wouldn’t be speculation. I can tell you he’s a talented WR that will be good. This position group is one of the largest on the team. It just may be as simple as there are too many guys ahead of him, I really don’t know. Even if he doesn’t crack the line up this year he has three solid years to make an impact.

Just found out we are headed to Charlotte for a funeral on Saturday. Anybody want two tickets?

Albany is allowing 33.2 points a game. This is not weighted to the FBS team either. Every game they’ve allowed at least 27 points.

They are giving up 381 yard per game, 150 on the ground, 231 in the air. We have shown signs of life only to self destruct in the red zone. Not this week.

This week our stars will have a big day and we win this 35-31.

The Tribe is averaging 7.7 points a game. If they score 30 Saturday, they would rise to over 12 per game.

Still will be there rooting on the Tribe. There exists a real possibility that the Tribe Men's Basketball team will score more points in its first game than the football team scores all season. Never thought i would see either part of that result when i was a student in the late 80s.

You clearly mean that the stars on offense will have a big day, if we are going to score 35 points. However, if the defense is giving up 31 points, then that doesn't sound like a big day to me. A great day would be 0, a good day would be less than 15, and an okay day would be 21. A day giving up 31 could easily be a loss.
