We have 1/3 of the "Nunez Trifecta." Two more to go, Philips and Foreman.

I will be one happy 'recruitnik' if Nicholson, Foreman and Philips are the other three as yet unidentified verbals.

Hmmmm good news. Darius tweeted out earlier in the day that he received a n offer from Colorado St. Now he's an Eagle!!

BTW, even though it probably isn't necessary, I am updating the first post in this thread (though quite frankly the info is the same as 247sports.com info - we are all reading the same Tweets. Don't appear to be many secrets in CFB recruiting these days in the age of Twitter).
Is there a bread crumb here?

RB from Tulsa Union who verballed this morning Tweeting about his QB at Union (Peyton Thompson), both are top 20 recruits in OK.

We are recruiting hard in OK and getting visits by good prospects.

Nunez

And I didn't realize that both Nunez and Neathery are from OK.

Here is a list of top OK prospects with comments about each.

I wonder if he visited last week???
Another defender commits to EMU. :) I looked at his Hudl video. I like it. I assume he is a DT but also has OT skills. I assume based on skill and level of competition he'll contribute early.

Thanks to those of you that are keeping us updated on the good recruiting news. It's probably the first time that keeping up with this stuff in June has been an issue.

I'm assuming the football program helps the kids with their Twitter announcements. That's a nice touch too. Kind of an indirect way for the coaches to announce a commitment.

'Nickle, couple of thoughts:

1). Those announcement Tweets are pretty standard (almost boilerplate). Just fill in the blanks. It is a good way to make the announcement in a diplomatic way.

2). Yes, having OVs in June has been fun. Before OVs were almost an after thought. The recruit committed during the fall and then took his visit in DECember.
This is better. Take the visit and THEN making a commit. Taking a visit AFTER committing seems to be half a*s backwards.

HOWEVER, my fear is that six months between commitments and signing will allow plenty of time for poaching. A recruit has a big senior year and the big boys come calling and poach G5 recruits.

#7 and #8 are? Assuming Nicholson is #7. #8 could be someone like Jeff Foreman, Darius Boone, or Dayton Wade. All apparently had very good visits last week.

Lot of these guys are following each other on Twitter and cheering each other on. If we get a bunch of those who visited together it would not surprise me. Because of how recruiting is going this year, instead of recruiting say a dozen recruits individually throughout spring, summer and fall, we are getting recruiting WEEK, where many will be together at the beginning of the process (now) rather than at the end (like in previous years where recruits verballed and then took OVs in Dec. and THEN met their fellow recruits).

For example, it would make sense to have all of the Oklahoma recruits fly to Detroit and back together. Let them bond. Get to know each other. And see if they wish to be classmates at EMU. So instead of recruiting players individually it is more of a group thing where one might say, "I'm going to commit. Are you? How about him (another recruit)?"

Nunez is THE MAN! Darius Boone Jr. with Iowa State & Tulsa offers.......very nice!

Tulsa Union is the best football program in the State of Oklahoma. They regularly play some of the top Texas teams early in the year, and win their share. Lots of very good players on that 1 team.
Union would be State Champs in Michigan.

Hey, at least we're in the ballgame now. If we are recruiting and landing players that P5 teams actually want, that's night and day from EMU ways of the past.

Sometimes 'recruit the school' sounds like an amateurish strategy, but it just might work here. There are say a half dozen players from Tulsa Union who could play in the MAC or higher.

We probably have more roots and good relations in OK than in MI. Nunez, as E'Tough indicates has really done well creating relationship in OK.

As I have been suggesting, the more and more recruits who 'know' each other or play on the same h.s. team the better the chance to recruit and keep them (and be more successful at EMU).

I wish we had the opportunity to have a Tulsa Union in MI where we could try for multiple recruits each year. Cass Tech could be but so many schools including a lot of P5 schools recruit it hard.
I'm going to try and create a post (this one) with the recruits whom I believe are our 'best bets' (that we have legitimate shots at). We have 8 known verbals and apparently 2 silent verbals. There are also a few recruits who have said positive things about EMU. A few have listed 3 or 4 finalists with EMU being one.

1. Devin Nicholson. May be a commit. Not sure. LB Cass Tech.

2. Will Philips. Had a very strong OV. Sounds like he is close to joining other recruits from OK. Would give us 2 RB commits from OK.

3. William Racely. Kind of flown under the radar because of all of the talk about the OK recruits. OL from MI. We are one of his 3 finalists.

4. Peyton Thompson. Has been under the radar. Presumed he visited last week. QB and teammate of Boone at Tulsa Union.

5. Jeff Foreman. ATH also from OK. Had a 'Great visit' in his words.

6. Simon Dellinger. Big, rangy TE from IN. We are a finalist along with the 3 service academies.

7. Dayton Wade. WR / ATH. Ga. One of the visitors last week.

EDIT:

8. Anton Oskarsson OL Sweden. (adding this prospect. Context seems to indicate he has been offered and presumably visited. This is not confirmed.).
Alex Merritt OL from Cincinnati commits per 247!

8.

Racely would be a nice commit. Right up the road in Flushing. Need to beat the NIU's and BG's for these type of Michigan kids.

Isn't Mike Golic too old to play at EMU?

Nice MAC offer list again.........welcome Alex!

Wondering if we recruited him for OL or DL, looking at his twitter (5th post down).......https://twitter.com/alexmerritt85?lang=en

If he's only 6'2, may be DL..........https://westvirginia.rivals.com/news/lineman-merritt-has-options-wvu-involved-after-camp-stop
