EMU is pushing hard with OVs this week, including todsy.

.
Check the twitter EMU FB recruiting tweets. Number of recruits tweeting about their visits.
Some sound very, very positive.
Per Jay Nunez on Twitter: 5 commits coming in 3 days.

I assume since there are 3 in the days, we've got 2 more that we haven't heard about yet.

We're really getting rolling now!

WDNWHA!

Yeah a head scratcher. I still wonder if he was a possible (late) 2018 signee who would have forgone his JUCO degree and signed on now... How does a JUCO make a verbal commitment without visiting campus? Did he make an official visit. maybe considering signing for 2018 (not 2019)?

Maybe it fell through and that it ended the relationship.

Otherwise, I see no reason for a JUCO to commit so early.

I think the commit was pre-mature. Sounds to me like a commitment didn't happen. I think the recruit announced the commit before EMU confirmed the offer at the OV.

'It takes two to tango" and if either party was unsure, there is no commitment.

I don't know what went wrong, but the staff has to like the player, his transcript, background, etc. Same as hiring an employee for a job. He or she has to impress at the interview.
I'm not at home this weekend and don't have access to my home PC. I'll try to get up to date when I return tomorrow.

Got to remember OVs have been going on all week and we held a camp last night. There will be h.s. players offered from the camps.

I'm having a hard time getting a handle on the number of OVs this week.

I think the important thing to remember is that a lot of recruiting work can be done during the season with unofficials. Rough guess is that 1/2 of our classes are within say a 4 or 5 hour drive of Ypsi. Any player from CLE, Cincy, Columbus, Pitts, CHI, etc. can drive Ypsi and catch a game, spend the night and go home the next day.

Thus, some players are taking them now to further away programs, such as guys from the deep south taking visits to northern schools. Some guys are taking all their officials in June and then deciding.

Not only are you correct but some locals are taking OVs.

I keep forgetting: Who recruits Oklahoma for us? I thought I knew but I forget.

We are recruiting hard in OK and getting visits by good prospects.

We also have a 16th commit not posted online: Kempton Shine. I'll do some digging but he has also commited.

Hard to keep up with all the recruiting action this week!

Shine also had offers from NIU and WMU.

03-cloud9 Don't the staff wish it were so. I think Frank meant '6'.

The staff seems to have done things very, very well in late June with a week of visits plus their camps.

Still no commits from the state of MI whom I assume will come later in the recruiting cycle.

No one has attempted to compile a list of OVs for the week (other than those who have publicly committed), but following Twitter, there are a number of disclosed OVs by recruits who haven't made a commitment yet.
Brooks is a defensive end and Shine another 3 star defensive back most of our commits so far on the defensive side
So we are still in June and we are in good shape. I can see a 2019 20 - 22 recruit class as follows

1). 8 - 10 H.S. recruits outside of MI. We have six already.

2). Say 5 - 6 MI h.s. players.

3). 6 - 8 JUCOs.

So if we get a few more verbals from the OVs last week, we'll have pretty well finished #1 above.

On to #2, MI h.s. recruits and that will happen in the months ahead. I hope we continue last year's progress in MI. Love to see recruits from schools like Cass Tech where we have a few players.

#3 will happen a lot in December and January. JUCOs usually don't commit very early. They usually are recruited hard after their seasons are over. And as we know, #3 has two phases: 1). Those who will be mid-year transfers who must sign in Dec. and the spring graduates who may opt to sign in Feb.
