Why. Why do you want this?

The nation’s leader in hits from 2017 has already gotten a promotion with his new organization.

Today, Dylan Burdeaux was called up to the single A level, joining the West Michigan White Caps from the short season Connecticut Tigers.

...it rained...there were delays...that screwed up our momentum....State didn't give a crap and played "lose"......there were mistakes made....yanking Big Mac after just 3??....then other mistakes and errors...it's baseball...now back to you in the booth John....

Top that Coach9
JC Keys and Luke Reynolds will play in the NECBL all-star game.

One of the few positives from Keating's summer season .... runs times of 6.47 and 6.51 to finish 2nd in NECBL "Fastest Man" competition.

Also, Luke Reynolds hit a HR in today's NECBL all-star game.

Put out some stuff for the 2018 SUNWACUSA baseball season on the conference board last week. 183 days until first pitch vs State.

http://csnbbs.com/thread-824025.html

Anyone know how they count the 35 man roster? Do redshirts count toward that total?

We should have a fall roster out in the next month or so. Trying to figure this out though. By my count, we have 41 coming back. Last year, we had 37 on the online roster, but 3 medical redshirts (Hayes, Case, Powell????) which put us under the max for the official list sent to the NCAA. These players did not practice with the team so I don't believe they count toward the total. Redshirted players that did not play (Reynolds, Montenegro, Bradford) do count toward the 35 because they practiced with the team. Is this right?

Drew Boyd will take a medical redshirt after recovering from TJ surgery, and won't practice with the team, I imagine. So, that gets us down to 40. Means 5 are on the chopping block.

Nice estimate Beagle

Roster Moves
Jake Viane, Jake Davis, Austin Millet and one other LHP that didn't pitch won't be back.
And there you have it. Thanks for posting.

That puts us at 36, by my count. Either my math is off by 1 (likely) or there's another medical redshirt.

Knew Davidson would be gone. I would have liked to see what Ostrander could have done with Millet, but we won't miss him. Same for Davis.

Viaene is the only name that sorta surprised me. Though I had a feeling he wasn't returning when he was playing in the Northwoods League but wasn't included on the list of summer ball players on the official USM website.

Figured Cooper Jones would be on the chopping block, but I can't fault Berry for sticking with a 5th year senior who has remained with the program despite little playing time during his career.

You could see the potential with Millet....but at this point, it is probably time for him to move along. I really did not understand why he rushed back after surgery this season.

Didn't know anything about Davis...other than he's a left-hander. And we don't have many of those.

What was the deal with Davidson? Good career at a good JUCO program (same as Conor Fisk).

Not too surprised about Viaene. Too much depth in the lineup for everyone to stick around. If he's the only bat we lose, I'll be surprised. Of course, I wasn't expecting to lose pitchers given how much help we will need there.

Davidson struggled in fall ball (didn't appear in the 2 scrimmages I went to) from what I understand, so they put the shirt on him for 2017.

We just lost 3 pitchers, but we're bringing in guys like Ryan Och and Jacob Weirich (both HS lefties) that have a higher upside than Davis and Davidson. Think Weirich will factor in some in the spring. Och might have to take the shirt, but we'll see how he does in the fall. High BB/9 and K/9 rates in HS. You also have Adam Jackson coming in from Hinds. Drew Boyd is another LHP. He's an Oak Grover that I think projects as a starter eventually, but will sit out in 2018 after having TJ surgery.

I thought Cooper would transfer to MoState or SEMO, but haven't heard or seen anything yet. I think Keating is going to be back. He's going to get a bunch of PAs vs lefties. If he could ever put it all together, he could push out Slater. I would not blame him though if he were to transfer out for his senior season if he doesn't want to platoon. I look at a team like ULL that could really use a guy like him.
Spreadsheet on the conference board has been updated to reflect these departures.
