Several will not host. 8 have RPI better than ours. 5 are worse.

It is rare, but it happens.

Looking at the D1baseball poll and we were #25 to start the week. Both 23 (Houston) and 24 (UL Lafayette) went 1-3 so hopefully we can move up a few spots this week.

If we can avoid a TTT down the stretch, it might come down to us, Missouri State, and some AAC school (likely Houston and/or USF) for a host spot. Committee usually likes to throw a bone to a non-power conference team (schools like Rice and CSF don't count).



We'd easily outbid all of these schools, but it seems like the bid usually doesn't matter unless you're MSU and have 12-13k for a regional.

Missouri St has a solid resume to this point but 9 of their remaining 10 games are against teams 167 or worse. Only game that isn't is at 62 Kansas. Need them to TTT a few of those, especially on their final series at #277.

We have ten regular season games left. If we want to host, we'll need to win 9/10 with that loss only coming against FAU. Can't afford to lose to UTSA or UAB, even if they've got a couple good pitchers each. They're far from pushovers, but we can't afford it.

We then have to sweep the tournament. That'll put us at 47 wins, regular season and tournament champions, and definite host. Would be nice if teams ahead of us started losing and we could somehow climb into national seed talk, but we'd have to run the table from here on and have teams ahead lose a good bit. But that would put us at 48 wins if we won out, which would be quite impressive and definitely national seed worthy.


But with our pitching as it is currently, I have a hard time imagining this happening. I sure hope it does, but it'll be tough.

I think we need to sweep 2 of the 3 series left and take at least 2/3 of the third series. It would def help a lot if we best sela too. If we do that and win a couple games in the tourney i think we will host. That would be 44 wins. 45 if best sela. Should be plenty.

Agree that it will be tough considering our pitching situation.

Id say no. Not automatically.

Not automatically, but would be tougher. If we do host though, bet we get the grace of being paired with either them or LSU.

Rice and UH have hosted in the same year before and we are three miles apart.

Just a quick look at Wiki, USM and State both hosted in 2003.

Neither of those schools will be national seeds.

We're not going to be a national seed.

2/3 at UTSA wouldn't kill our RPI. That's a 22-20 team around #100 RPI. Losing 1 to UAB would hurt though.

Last year State and Ole Miss both hosted so another "no" vote
