I think a lot of kids want to go where they're going to get on the playing field the quickest. VT has enough talent in its program that there's a good chance the kid gets red shirted and still doesn't see a lot of time until year 3.

I think Larocha was overlooked by many FBS schools simply because of his size. Two years ago he was listed at only 5' 7" 150 lbs and in his Jr year they listed him at 5'8" - 5' 9". They now have him listed at 5' 10" - 170 lbs. If, and that is a big if, this young man 'Larochas" was 6'1" or 6' 2"and around 200- 210 lbs you would see many P5 schools knocking down his door.
Speed wise he has a second gear and he is really quick when he shifts on the field leaving his defenders chasing behind him. He also has some fancy foot work as he changes direction with that quick pivot. He obviously can outrun all those HS kids, especially when he gets open. We all know that at the FBS level there will be many players that can turn on the jets and are extremely fast, but Larocha also shows a great ability to scramble and stay on his feet. He reminds me a little of Lawry. He (Larocha) may be a little faster. I do think Lawry is like a boulder, he is almost impossible to bring him down most of the time.
They gave Larocha the right nickname "Speedy". I Look forward to seeing him in ODU Blue. and am proud he select Old Dominion to showcase his talents.
His Sr. year stats are amazing 2,742 rushing yards / 37 TD's and he averaged 11.2 yards per carry. He also runs a 4.40 - 40 !!!
