The article say that he was the only one cited, which to me equates to the other players for OSU were protected or they did it so OSU could switch him? Any chance we could get a sniff at him?!? That would be a huge get, since we seemingly lost out on Danny Davis.

HIghly doubtful.

I would expect that CLF & Co. are actively trying to build a brand. I suspect that integrity and such is a key part of that brand. Taking a flyer on an Ohio kid...? Maybe. Taking a flyer on this particular guy however...? Just doesn't seem to fit the narrative.

He'll likely either go somewhere like FAU/FIU, or go to Juco and change the character narrative that's presently harming his value....then he could prolly go anywhere.

I agree, but the talent and the potential is huge. Apparently he is now getting a lot of attention from Marshall, Bowling Green and Syracuse. IDK, but if I were CLF, I would be on the train and trying to pull a rabbit out. I still say when it all comes down, he was no more guilty than any of the OSU players and they didn't even get mentioned. Also, how do we know if it was him who had it or the OSU players and he just took the fall? Again, I am not disagreeing, but he is rated as one of the best WR recruits in the class...I say roll the dice, if it was a fluke or a one time bad decision. You are 100% correct though you don't bring a bad apple in and spoil the bunch. Reaching out to him or his camp would not be a bad idea IMO, if they haven't already, to get the story and evaluate the risk/reward.

If he is smart he signs with OSU so he becomes exempt from arrest.

I agree. It's definitely tempting. He was wanted by all the top programs.

Ultimately however, i suppose as a new coach....it's hard to reach. Were he in year 5 (ONE CAN HOPE HE'LL BE AROUND THAT LONG), and had built up his credibility....i could definitely see it happening. Maybe. lol

LMFAO...so true!
He got a misdemeanor ticket for pot.

Whether it becomes widely publicized or not, I bet there are several on the roster right now that have gotten that same ticket. If its the first contact with the courts it often gets paid out as a disorderly conduct or some other low grade fine.

For Florida to walk away, there must have been some past history that already raised a re flag.
He has to fly in from out of town on the visit so it's pretty safe to assume he got it from his host. lol
Yeah, i mean....it's really not a biggie in the grand scheme of things. I definitely got a weed ticket before when i lived in Cincy. Which, btw, idk if Ohioans really appreciate how good we had (?!? i think the law has since changed) it. When i was at UC in the late 90s you could have up to 100(!!!) grams of weed and it would be a a pay out misdemeanor. no different than a ticket.

Meanwhile, in the south that ish is a felony.

anywho, i think in the aftermath he did himself no favors. UF was going to take him anyway, but he started to rat out OSU players. Said something like, 'ohio state players smoke so much weed.' Or, so the internets say he did.

He shoulda taken his lumps, forget about OSU, and sign elsewhere. Now he's relegated to lesser school options.

(not to mention that per boards....he was caught with such an insignificant amount that likely he was just being a jerk. usually cops let you go with the amount he had. that's all internet board heresay tho...FWIW)

explains their performance against Clemson, I suppose
My experience is most judges (with some exceptions) and prosecutors don't care much about misdemeanor weed tickets. Often can work them out as a DC or even a dismissal with costs... one prosecutor basically says, make a donation to this law camp and it will go away. The worst part of the law was the mandatory license suspension... But I've even seen judges give crazy expansive driving privileges (like all but 2 hours a week) to deal with that.

There is. For a good while now Florida has been the only decent program willing to take him.
So any surprises in store for tomorrow? Or do we pretty much know who will be faxing in the paperwork already?
Braylon Sanders listed his final 2 and UC did not make the cut. Ole Miss and Colorado State
We have grad transfer Kyle Trout coming in; don't know if any other potential graduate transfers are out there . As young as the team will be next year it would be nice to pick up more talented experience to help us if the new coaches have any connections.
Coach Fickell was on a podcast with John Popovich and Mike Dyer today re: recruiting.

Great find. Good to hear him speak on recruiting and more importantly his approach towards it.
