(01-20-2017 01:33 PM)kyucat Wrote: [ -> ]What needs to be followed is how Coach Fickel recruiting of Ohio players plays out.
Example so far according to Bearcat Report Big 10 schools have 26 Ohio recruits committed.
Michigan St has 6 alone, Northwestern has 5 and as expected Ohio State has 5 and probably could have more if they wanted.
Kentucky has 6 Ohio recruits, Pitt 4. So far UC has 5 Ohio recruits. Louisville has 1 so far but in the past had several commits from Ohio

Hope CLF can change those numbers over the next few years,

Based on the large number of Ohio recruits in any given year (and the fact that a lot of B10 schools do not have a lot of home grown talent of their own), those numbers will always be about the same. The thing we will need our coaches to do is to ensure that we are shifting the better players over to us.
Michael Warren was offered by Minnesota today, and just got a crystal ball there also.

He's visiting the Minnesota weekend before NSD. I wouldn't put too much stock into the crystal ball though, it was a Minny writer who reacted literally seconds after Warren announced the offer.

Agreed. I wouldn't put much stock in it either. They are acting like it's his first P5 offer or something. He has a decent amount of those already and it's freaking Minnesota. They are acting like some elite program just offered him.

Right. He was committed to a freakin' SEC team - albeit just UK. But yeah, it's not like a P5 offer is new to him. Didn't he decommit from UK and opt to Toledo due to wanting to be closer to home?!?

Not sure why a Minny offer is a game changer.

That's the line I've pretty much exclusively gotten from all of his high school coaches. He has a couple of kids...yeah...and wanted to be closer to his family.

Because we are THE University of Cincinnati.

If he wants to be close to his kids, the he probably won't, but if he wants to be close enough (3 hours away) and in the same state. from a custody perspective, then we would be the perfect fit and compromise, that isn't Toledo.

Fickell is killing it, partnered with the Reds here:

Kind of OT, but relevant as to what a HS hotbed we are in is that both Saban and Dabo were in town this week. Saban's visits included Lakota West, Moeller and Fairfield. Sweeney's included Fairfield and I think I heard Moeller as well (others can add to the list). I've moved on from Tubs, but those reports that he never visited any of the local schools are extremely damning when you compare it to what top coaches across the country do in our own backyard.

Here's an article mentioning their visits which includes a possibly new update on Danny Davis and a few others mostly wrt 2018:

Quote:Earlier this week, he (Danny Davis) told Rivals.com he is essentially down to the Badgers, Cincinnati, Kentucky and West Virgina.

Smart move, looks great, I love it.

Right now, he is Crystal Balled to Kentucky, but has various other large options.

The top 5 schools for him (in any order): Kentucky, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Washington State.

He has already had official visits to Kentucky and WVU, Wisconsin Starts today, Cincinnati last next week.

He has offers from Illinois, Iowa, Michigan Sate, Nebraska, Norhwestern, Oregon, Penn State, and Rutgers.

If Fickell is able to grab him from any of those schools (ok, most), damn!

I was under the impression that his visit isn't until next week.

It's too much work to rewrite my other post, but it sounds like he might be down to 4 after eliminating Wash. St. (or he could be up to 5 after adding Washington St. in the alternative since I don't know which report is more recent.)

Saban apparently visited Moeller like you said, and someone on twitter jokingly said in response we are probably all but out of it for Aeneas Hawkins next year.

Andrew Hawkins tweeted this out in response to that guy:

Still a long shot in 2018, but still fun to think about.

And the crazy part to me is that all these kids seem to be friends or at least get along with each other. For instance, you get a kid from Fairfield congratulating a kid from St. X on getting an offer or making a commitment. Maybe it's just more noticeable to me because I'm paying more attention to recruiting now or the growing popularity of Twitter, but it has me excited to have a staff that will actually take advantage of this city.

Running back Justin Brent is transferring from Notre Dame. I don't see us listed in his interest list but Mike Denbrock was listed as one of his recruiters to ND.

So Aeneas is one of those Hawkins? Whats the relation exactly to Artrell and Andrew?
Someone has to post those pics from Fickell's tweets at GABP. That is awesome that they took them there.

God I am so glad Fickell was the one who ended up with the job I know some were pretty skeptical at first, but every thing that he has done since getting the job has pretty much been what every Bearcat fan has wanted. First class stuff from Fickell.

Now I just have to decide if getting my season tix back will be worth it for me.
