If so, can he actually have connects here as well? well, i suppose that may be a moot point if he has indeed scooped this story. I guess i just find it interesting that he has the bandwidth to do both.

Either way, i like the access via paid sites, but to be honest....i come here more than those. the provincial nature of the paid sites can be a bit much.

That's honestly why I stopped paying for paid sites as well. Not a very welcoming board to differing opinions, and the news you get there will be in the public in a few days anyways...just better things to spend money on at this point.

Exactly why I choose not to join.

Back to the recruiting topic, I saw where BCR retweeted a player decommitting from Purdue and again holding out til signing day to announce. I'm thinking it is just because he is from Ohio and UC has nothing to do with it. Seems like he is Minny bound, but why would BCR retweet his announcement if we aren't even involved (doesn't look like he even has a UC offer or any connection, plus Minny visited him recently)? Btw, the player is Malcolm Robinson Jr. out of Massillon (3* DT).

I think there's more to this. Idk that we're out of the loop just yet. At this point, I gotta believe we're in the mix for a kid like this...esp considering we just snagged Purdue's interim coach - who by all accounts was well liked by fans/ kids on the team.

According to twitter, and a Massillon Washington coach, Fickell was at that high-school just yesterday.

Fickell was there yesterday and last week. Looks like Fleck was there on Tuesday.

And if you didn't work for one of their huge money-maker sites they started paying guys $hit from what I understand. Obviously they are prioritizing it once again and trying to get people to join back up. I will say this Johnson does a really good job with recruiting, much better than anyone has done over there in a very long time when it comes to UC. He also works for the RebelGrove over there, which is one of the most popular sites on the Rivals Network so he understands the recruiting game and how it works.

Yesterday they had a deal where if you signed up by midnight they would give you $50 worth of gear of the team of your choice.

Since membership for a year is like $99 I considered it, but didn't eventually sign on. That deal does confirm your point that they are trying to get things right.

There is no denying it, Yahoo let Rivals go to $hit for the most part over the last several years. Not just the UC site but the entire network. The team sites were always crashing and having software issues, etc... Hopefully it changes going forward because they still have some really good analysts working for them and with Scout going out of business it's a real opportunity for them to get things turned around.

With twitter now a lot of the news is out there within hours, not even days anymore and in many cases the news is there before even on the premium sites. And I completely agree with you about the message board and being unwelcoming. Especially a couple of the guys that used to be mods there or on other premium sites (Not Tim). Very much of a "clique" over there.

FWIW, Just noticed a few UC coaches have also started following him as well.
Is Danny Davis still visiting this weekend? It seems like he has to be the crown jewel of this class if we can pull it off? I understand that you can't evaluate kids by stars or ratings, but he would be the icing on the cake for this recruiting class you would have to think? Do we stand a legitimate chance of pulling this kid to UC when he has multiple P5 offers? I would love to have him in a Bearcat Uni!

According to his 247 profile, he is indeed visiting this weekend.

BREAKING: Bedford WR Trent Cloud (@tnert_) has committed to the #Bearcats after decommiting from Toledo. Story to come. #CinCityPride

Myself and BearcatMan were discussing him a few weeks ago when he first popped up on the radar. I Really really like his senior film. Good pickup for UC.

whats his college position?

WR imo.

I would agree. His lower half seems to look more like a WR when in action on his highlight film. Good hands and ball skills as well.
He has great hips. I see cb or s

Twitter has in many ways totally flattened the playing field. These kids speak for themselves now. they're telling the world their top 5, who they committed to, etc.

I love it.

More, or less, I'm paying now to support the sites. sure, i get info/ insight that i wouldn't get otherwise...and get it faster, but it's no longer a significant difference. the news breaks here fast. In fact, anyone who's turned off by the sites is in their right mind to just stay away cuz i find our board here is pretty much real time. I don't wanna follow a bunch of 17/18 year olds on twitter so i outsource it to the sites.

They have done all of that with every commit since the new staff took over.

I went off tonight because from everything I know the situation was handled in the best interest of the Rivals site, and not in the best interest of the kid. I have a major problem with that, and will speak out when I do.

My policy at BearcatJournal has always been that the kid is put first and there are countless times when I have sat on something because it is the right thing to do. I will leave it at that for now. If you want more detail, I will say what I have to say when the dust is clear... #BeatX
TT aint take you with him? I thought that was your BFF??? Maybe Ohio state guys remember you was they RIVAL. 247 should have priority over a new guy I would think.
Also, it is pretty obvious Minnesota is piggy backing UC's offers to guys. Kind of a pathetic look for them but at the same time it shows how much Warriner must think of Fickell and his new staff.

I would think we're on higher level than Minnesota no matter conference. Pkus, what 17-18 wants to live up there?

No doubt, plus their admin is whacko and very anti male sports. It should make for an interesting dynamic with their new coach and his past.
