Can we get some grief counseling or someone who specialized in change management for the MM diehards? Months later there are still people that haven't accepted it. Fairly certain we could have hired Nick Saban and it wouldn't have been good enough to replace the Mickster.

If that is directed at me, you misunderstood my post. I like the Alabama hire. Also, I am excited to see what this new, energized and young staff can do under Withers. I'm on board and ready to go.
It's not directed at any one person in particular. It's just getting old questioning the abilities of people that probably don't even own a JMU shirt yet knowing that the main driver behind the criticism is that they aren't Mickey Matthews.

Yes I agree , have to have more than that to justify your disagreement.
In related news, Southern Miss. hired one of Auburn's QC guys as their OC:

Can we get a halt to any praise of a HC & staff who have yet to win a game for JMU?

I think you're confusing praise for excitement. We've all had to endure the past 5 seasons. Not only were we not consistently winning, but the style of play had become stagnant and boring. We now have a new coach from a BCS school that plays a very exciting type of offense. He's brought in a very young staff and while we don't know how they will actually perform, the sky appears to be the limit. We'll see with time how good they actually are but I would say the excitement surrounding Withers and his staff is definitely warranted.

Whether or not the style of play/offense is considered exciting or boring doesn't matter. Only wins matter. & more like pie in the sky.

After the last 5 seasons why get excited about anything unless/until you see wins, lots of them?
Set the expectations bar low, and you can't have a letdown. No where to go but up.
Set the bar high, and you either meet expectations or have a big letdown. No thanks.

We were consistently winning , just not enough for playoffs. People just really got tired of Mickey. If you think our offense is boring go watch Stanford play lol. I don't get excited over people's personalities.
Geez guys. Sure we have to win and no we don't praise anything until the games are played. But what value do you get by continuing to post negative nancy comments. Let's get excited about all things at jmu. If you have a concern, post it. But to just keep posting that we shouldnt get too hyped over a coach who has yet to win a game, seems pointless. Let it go.
I pumped about the new staff. No clue how they will do but the air is energized around our football program. Everything we hear is positive. Morning workouts going well. Players excited about new head coach. Vad Lee and other good recruits being mentioned. I have not heard one negative thing from this new staff.

Why talk about the past? It's done. Time to look forward to a new season with Withers at the helm and a lot of young coaches ready to make their mark. I feel really good about next year. Good core of players left over and with a good recruiting class, we might find our Dukes contending again for a CAA title.

No reason to be negative at all right now. PW has it right. Let's get on board, get excited and support our new coach. JMU Nation needs to welcome the new staff and all of the recruits who might read this board. Come to JMU. We are crazy for football and passionate about our Dukes!

Who are you and what did you do with Dukie? I thought your positive vibes were reserved for the basketball program, you've obviously spent this winter away from me and Curt. 04-cheers

By the way, I agree with you. Seems like a lot of positive energy with this staff, hopefully it tranlates to the field.

The difference is, Stanford's offense works...

Watching us run up the middle on third and long, or running the same bubble screen over and over, gets annoying.

You don't need to be Oregon to have an exciting offense but when someone like me can predict the upcoming plays, then that's when it gets boring...

Offensive philosophies can become predictable, most coaches just have the players to ensure they are excuted with great talent. Alabama has a predictable offense. JMU needed a new personality at the helm , and they hired a good one.

Exactly and MM and his staff basically sucked for the past 5 years getting wins. JMU has roughly 3 gimme wins in those past schedules under 'The Mick'. Not making the FCS playoffs means you had a crappy year when now roughly 25% of the FCS teams makes the playoffs. Oh an on top of that watching them play like crap with the style of play (run wide on 3rd and less than a yard with no FB and refusal to play CBs in press coverage).

Oh wait you must be talking about the beloved WR end-around that JMU ran about 4 times a game that never fooled anyone.
Didn't mean to start an argument.

Hahaha , exaggerated details. Not going to do a back and forth though. CAA is best conference in the country ....that's all.
