They still have room to grow. I mean, outside of the STUDS (Cumberland, Evans, Clark, Caupain etc) that came through the program, compare them to some of the other previous player sophomore seasons who turned out to be decent players:
Saunders 7.2 ppg
Madsen 4.0 ppg
vs.
Tre Scott 3.1 ppg
Nysier Brooks 2.6 ppg
Justin Jenifer 2.8 ppg
Kevin Johnson 6.5 ppg
Shaq Thomas 6.8 ppg
Justin Jackson 5.0 ppg SO year. 3.8 Jr year.
Jaquon Parker 1.5 ppg
Dion Dixon 4.9 ppg
Now list the guys that didn’t contribute much as sophomores and then failed to contribute in their remaining time at UC. I guarantee the 2nd list will be much longer.
It’s funny how guys always bring up the list above up as if everyone gets better and omit the likes of Jermaine Sanders, David Nyarsuk, Ge’Lawn Guyn, Kelvin Gaines, Quadri Moore, Trevor Moore, Mamadou Diarra, etc

Some people are optimists and some people are pessimists.
No one said everyone gets better. I said they have room to grow because they are still young, and I gave some examples of guys who did. They may not get better and of course there are examples of guys who haven't. Point being is that not everyone is a flop because they don't come in and average double digits as freshman or sophomore and you shouldn't force them to transfer out. Just like you shouldn't suggest firing a guy after year 1 of a rebuild.

Great job by Wes.
Best recruiting class since 2014, and all the more impressive considering how he took over a dumpster fire that Brannen left.
So yeah-- it was a great job by Wes.

Haha yup. I’m disappointed in how they are playing at moment but part of it is talent and I’m sure the other part is on both coaching and players.
I’m interested to see how they finish down the stretch and if they where the C-Paw with pride like other teams that missed the tourney. Obviously, off season moves and next year will be more interesting but quite frankly I don’t think we’ll know if Wes is up for the job until year 3. He seems like he would be a great coach from everything I’ve seen besides recent results.
We were exceeding my expectations for most of the year with this group and now are right where I would have guessed.

So essentially just dumping Hensley and McGinnis. I think McGinnis is almost a lock IMO.

I don’t understand filling all 13 this year causing the open scholarship crunch. I still don’t understand bringing those guys with him. They aren’t likely developmental future strong AAC players let alone B12 guys. They are guys who might be role players even in the SOCON. I can’t see him screwing them over after one just year to transfer again.
