RE: Home Opener
We are beating MSU next season. Having Bryce back at Center with a solid WR corps, Koback and a QB with experience... Not to mention a Matured DL. Yess sir!

RE: Home Opener
I'm fine with playing Murray State. Both Colorado St and BYU are good teams. BYU will probably be the best team UT plays all season. BYU has a head-banded sophomore gunslinger at QB and big aggressive D-line. Time to tune up after a week off, work out some things that could not get done at Kentucky, and prepare for the possibility of being without Mitch.

Yes, it's a bit different because it's a different subdivision. However, do you think any of the top P5 schools really care about playing a MAC school? Save me the 1/25 occasional upset.

It's a pay day and a chance to beat a bigger program. No need to poo-poo the FCS when they routinely beat MAC schools.

Toledo's beaten something like 17 straight FCS opponents, mostly blow outs.
A number of them ranked. And Toledo is closer to mediocre and better than some
lower ranked P5 programs.

2007 - beat Liberty 35-34
2012 - beat CCU 38-28
2013 - beat EWU 33-21

Yes, Toledo has handled FCS, but let's not act like no games were competitive. Toledo is a MAC team that has exactly 1 MAC title during that time. Alabama plays FCS teams. Toledo will too. The MAC is not some high and mighty conference where we can look down on FCS. My point is not to turn this into a history lesson on Toledo, it's to illustrate that FCS teams are more than capable of beating G5 teams. Look at it as an easy win if you look down on FCS that often.

You do a fine job of making my point:
2007, a 5-7 Rocket team beats Big South Champ Liberty that places 22 players on All Big South Conference teams
2012 9-4 Rockets beat Big South Champ Coastal Carolina, which feature former Gamecock QB Aramis Hillary. Coastal is a FCS play-off team.
2013 7-5 Rockets knock off FCS#3 Eastern Washington.
Very good FCS teams are capable of beating very bad FBS teams. In the case of Appalachian St, capable of beating a really stoned and hungover Michigan team.

I didn't watch it, but it would appear that Eastern's defense is about on par with ours.

Absolutely not. UK was up 17-0 in the 2nd Quarter.
The Wildcats started doing things like fumbling at the EMU one yd line and missing FG's. They continued to keep their scoring down by commiting stupid penalties. On top of it, an EMU DB horse-collared UK's QB Terry Wilson in the 3rd quarter resulting in a serious knee injury(he was carted off the field). The back up QB, a grad transfer from Troy, came in and passed for 2 TD's.

was actually a missed call. there was no horse collar. The EMU defender simply grabbed the back of the jersey around the bottom of the letters and with his strong grip it jerked the kentucky qb back and at first glance appeared to be a horse collar because of the way he snapped back. the replay showed it was clearly not, but EMU was still penalized and the QB was still hurt.

That's still a horse collar tackle. Both the NFL & NCAA changed the rule a couple years back where you don't have to reach inside the jersey for it to be a penalty. Even grabbing the outside of the jersey in that area and yanking the player down is still a penalty.

After watching numerous times, the player's jersey was grabbed at the back of both arms and he was pulled down. It was not a penalty.

RE: Home Opener
All of the P5 programs minus the SEC play a 9-game conference schedule too, so with us playing 4 OOC we are almost forced to either play a FCS game or 11-game schedule. No way in hell the AD is going to punt on a home gate, maybe a 9-game MAC schedule would work?

I don't necessarily want a 9-game conference schedule either, but I posed it as a question because it's really only one of the other alternatives outside of playing FCS, unfortunately.

On the other hand. The more Mac schools we play, the more wins we have.

RE: Home Opener
Here's a take... Is anyone 03-zzz for the home opener? I'm trying to be 01-lauramac2 , and the crowd will be fine... Just IDK? We opened with our biggest game on the road, then the bye has kind of killed my vibe. And Murray just played Georgia in front of 95,000. They are NOT going to be intimidated.

After Murray we have to go out west to play an 03-yawn team in the mountains. A good win it would be, but they may end up only 4-8 with the quality of play in the MWC (high). It could look like a devestating loss.

BYU will likely come in 1-3 or 2-2 with their murderers schedule. And even that game (biggest home game in the conference) doesn't really 02-13-banana at me.

I'm in a 07-coffee3 mood. Talk me off a ledge and get me to the MAC opener vs. WMU 04-chairshot

exactly, the defender was nowhere near the collar or neck area. he simply got a good grip of the mid back area of the jersey and snapped the runner backward in an awkward way that at game speed looked like a horse collar. it wasn't.

1. Tailgate - Yoohoo and rum to start 'er off
2. It is Rocket football
3. The Glass bowl will be rocking, with at least a decent crowd.
4. Cant wait to hear the fight song rolling. Heard the Whitmer band yesterday and it got me excited.
5. Tailgate - Mingling with other people who love the Rockets.
6. Tailgate - Beer and food

Just like your gas bill has a baseline payment even if you dont use any....i have a baseline level of excitement regardless of the opponent. Especially on a saturday with nice weather!.

I haven't seen video, or read this entire thread, but if you gran someone between the numbers, and pull them down from behind, that is part of the 'illegal horse collar' tackle.
