So, they’re racking in the bucks by shaking down these nutty fans for a donation before they can even purchase a ticket. It looks like a bidding war each season for the best seats. That makes my point even more pronounced with relation to return on investment. The product on the field is the return I was referencing —- which means these suckers are getting screwed and tattooed.

Seems like I can recall ETSU doing some shaking down of fans to be allowed to purchase season tickets, pretty much everybody does it in some form

They’re on their 6th coach since 2009 — how much has that sucked out of their coffers?

None actually. They just built a bigger coffer - instead of, you know, shutting down the program and quitting.

All the money these UT crazies have poured into that program trying to spend their way out of mismanagement, bad coaching hires, dillusional perceptions, and outright waste is a form of quitting the dealing with reality.

Why are ETSU fans concerned with how much UT spends? Ask your baseball team what this little football boondoggle has cost them.

Concerned? Could give a rat’s behind. If these idiots want to keep pouring megabucks down that rat hole, their money. Baseball team? Football boondoggle?

Ah yes, if we could only go back to the glory days of Dave Mullins when the baseball team was fully funded and going .500. Look at baseball attendance, and look at football attendance. The priorities are in the right place.

Will be going to the game Saturday. I saw something on Facebook about raising money for the ETSU band to go. Will they be there?

I saw that ETSU sold out their allotment to the game. I wonder how many tickets that is.

Hope the heck they didn’t have to donate to the UT Athletics Fund before qualifying to purchase these tickets.

RE: Official Game Thread: Tennessee
The allotment was approx 2100.

I wonder if the UT athletic dept paid back the millions of dollars they borrowed from UT administration to pay their bills several years ago. That was one of the reasons they jacked up the cost to purchase tickets.

UT has sold out very few games over the last six years. They have been running ads in papers all over the state trying to sale tickets.

They simply stuck it to their fans to make up the shortfalls caused by a sports program that hasn't won a championship in any sport for many many years.

Could you please provide the source that the athletic department borrowed money from the school? I can't find anything about that. I know they stopped donating around 6 million a year to the general scholarship fund but I haven't seen anything where they actually had to borrow from the University.
Thanks.

RE: Official Game Thread: Tennessee
The donation was 7 mil per yr.

Athletic dept was 200 mil in debt 2013. Dave Hart was hired to clean up the debt mess. The interest alone was 21 mil per yr.

Athlectic dept borrowed approx 2.5 mil in 2005 and 12 mil in 2013 to pay the bills.

There were all kinds of cost cutting, jobs lost , mens and women's combined, rather than stand alone programs, etc.

Jacking up the prices and the monies from the SEC NETWORK saved their bacon.

The story of this mess was reported in all the media.

I hope the players have the mindset to play the game and not just show up. Could be fun to put a scare in UT early.
