Just another game.......

Edit. Just another $$$$ game.....

A form of some wealth redistribution? FCS programs get no discounts on expenses while the Powerful Five corner more and more of the megabucks.

As for UT, they sure stunk up Charlotte this past Saturday. Personally, I’ve lost interest in hating the Big Owrange and pulling against them.
Its not just another $$$$ game, because this is the first real money game since probably 2001. This is a big game because it is the first time many in our region will see ETSU play.

I just hope expectations of fans are realistic. I know UT fans are really down on their team, but even jokingly saying that ETSU will beat UT is silly. This is a bad FCS team going up against a bad FBS team, and the expectation should be to have fun and stay healthy.

Prediction: UT 62; ETSU 3

WOW‼️ That’s a stinger. “Bad FCS team” — not exactly a positive or accurate statement. “Bad FBS team” — per Saturday in Charlotte, right on. UT has NO excuse for their state of affairs except administrative and coaching incompetence. I’ll take ETSU everyday in doing what it has done on relatively so little. We even gave the current UT AD some training for his current gig — likely with a salary that would cover a good percentage of our entire program’s cost. He owes us this game plus doubling or more the payout.

I am hoping we can turn into a pretty good FCS team and improve as the season goes on and they learn the new offense better. As far as the FBS game goes there is an enormous void in spending difference between us and them. They probably pay their head coach close to what we spend on the entire program. For the money difference, I will take our team every time. Go Bucs!
The money differential is exactly why the expectation should be to have fun and not get hurt.

As for my "bad FCS team" comment, we have a 35% winning percentage since reinstating football and have finished 7th and 8th in our conference the past two seasons. The recruiting websites ranked us last in recruiting for this year. I don't put much faith in the recruiting rankings at this level, and I do think we have the right head coach for the job. But right now there is no evidence to say that we aren't bad, except a decent half of football against a weak D2 team who was picked to finish last in their division.

I will be at the UT game pulling hard for our team. And yes for the money difference I will take our program every time. But on the field playing each other, I am not crazy enough to expect us to be even close to competitive in the game.
Got my tickets. Excited to see how our team reacts in that atmosphere. I realize it’s most likely going to be a blowout, but it’s a great opportunity for our university and players. Fans too! Go Bucs.
Tennessee is a 33 1/2 point favorite
I’d take UT on those points.
Prediction.
ETSU: 63
UT: 0

Trash team gonna get pounced!

That's crazy talk. That'll almost certainly rise before game time. Should be close to 40-42 (or more) I'd say. I would never want to root against the Bucs; otherwise, yeah, UT should easily swallow those points.
What sucks is that UT is ripe for the taking. They are not a good team right now. Thing is ETSU just does not have the players to do it yet.

Those in the know, know. But, does the “average” fan realize this is a $500,000.00 check for ETSU football? (Fulmer should have made it at least $750,000.00). Georgia only ran the score to 45-0 on Austin Peay, for example, while other similar results snowed down on FCS, with a couple exceptions.

To be clear, I'm not *predicting* the difference will be more than 33.5. I'm saying that the odds should reflect the high likelihood that it will be. On the other hand, bookies are not known to be stupid, either.
I'm wondering if that spread disproportionately reflects more the disappointment (and thus lack of betting money) of UT/SEC fans/followers in UT's performance against WVU, perhaps not fully weighing the talent differential. Meaning......whatever 'credence' UT had before Saturday is likely down a touchdown or more compared to what it would have been.

Or............on yet another hand...…………...they see that ETSU's "peer", Appy, nearly knocked off Penn St. in Happy Valley, so ETSU must be pretty strong, right?
It's all based on how bad UT has been sucking.

They’re on their 6th coach since 2009 — how much has that sucked out of their coffers?

Do they make numbers that big? That bleeding will not stop soon, I suspect.

In what world is ETSU a peer of Appy St in football? Appy would probably (and rightly) be a 3 touchdown favorite against ETSU

I'll take the Bucs on that. Hoping for a great effort with few mistakes.
