RE: Ratings Suffer When Celebrities Rant
Don't care enough to look, but anyone that watched that tripe- did the cartoon book movie Black Panther sweep every category like that raving mad man on here was insisting it would and should?
I haven't seen it, was told I wasn't welcome, so don't know if it was any good or not.
Darkest Hour was pretty damn good, and interesting. /shrugs

I don't think it was eligible until next year, but you can go ahead and pencil it in as best picture, despite being (I'm told) just an average Marvel movie.

Ah, gotcha. That's likely correct.
I pay zero attention to this stuff.

I typically watch the Oscars. I didnt this year because I knew it would be the ultimate preachy anti-Trump evening telling all conservatives how stupid they are. Ive had enough and stopped watching all these self congratulatory awards shows where the smug largely clueless actors act like they are have the answers to everything because they played a super hero or a crack whore in a movie. Apparently, I wasnt alone in my decision to pass on the Oscars.
Instead, my wife and I caught up on this seasons "Homeland" episodes on Showtime. If you havent caught that show, "Homeland" is one thats definitely worth seeing. There were some significant cast changes several seasons in that I thought might really hurt the show---instead--it just got better. Really good series that tends to piggy back off current events.

RE: Ratings Suffer When Celebrities Rant
The Oscars have really just become a circle-jerk for Hollywood to act like they're special with some sense of moral elitism against middle America. Of course it's always been that way to an extent, but Best Picture winners like Titanic and Lord of the Rings were box office hits and at least the average Joe could connect with them. Now they're more than willing to sacrifice ratings to keep up the facade, though it shouldn't be surprising to any of them when s*** happens like Trump getting elected.

Guardians #1 was extremely well written....is one of my faves from this genre....#2 was a pos..
I'm a huge movie fan......that's what sucks so bad about what is being put out in today's world.....they've forgotten it's the writing that creates interest.....
actors are nothing more than fk'n actors....it's their only fk'n job req't....you can either act or suck at it.....however, if the writing sucks, it doesn't fk'n matter how good or bad one is...
and that's my point....too many only know that world on a pedestal.....that's what's so fk'n sad about too many sheeples o'day.....it's why line 1b)

Movies are for everyone. Who told you you weren't welcome?
Blackpanther was overrated. It was okay as far as Marvel movies go. Better than the Thor storyline but certainly no Captain America: Winter Soldier or Ironman.

Almost every single "title" will offend someone in some way....
Let's call them "The Awards"........ Unless of course all of the other awards will be worried about being confused as being lesser awards?
