With our inane 6-7 man rotation and the starters with little to no rest, it will happen every time against a quality team. In all losses that weren’t blow outs in 1st half, we lost during the last 8- 10 minutes in the 2 nd half. Why? No adequate rest for starters. With this coach unless the rest of th league recruits mediocre kids, we will never win the CAA championship. There are other players on the bench that CAN PLAY and never was given a chance to help the team. Piss poor coaching! Feel sorry for the guys, they play hard and deserve better.
How long have you been a Tribe fan that follows men's basketball? For some one who has been watching since 1971, I have a different prospective.
In the latest available year, W&M funds it's basketball program at #194 out of 351 D1 programs. According to Live RPI this morning William and Mary is ranked #94 in RPI. That is doing more with less, which has been a hallmark of this coaches tenure.
This coach consistently out performs with the resources that he is given and the salary he is paid.
We are all disappointed that we didn't advance. We would all like to do better and criticize the coach at times. I agree with you on using more players and giving starters rest, but I can't argue with what we get for what we fund as directed by this coach.
Please remember that this year's team is missing 3 projected rotational players from last year's team (2 were starters last year) that transferred elsewhere. That has a huge impact on the number of players used.
The chemistry of this years team and it's re-invention with 1 returning starter which was projected 8th and finished 4th is an overachieving situation.
It is my considered view point that we the fans and supporters of W&M basketball need to step up first. We have a new AD with fire and drive, a good coach who does more with less, a solid core of returning players and an excellent recruiting class with more yet to be added. The sky is not falling.
Thank you to the players, coaching staff and administration for putting together a better than expected "re-building" season that was entertaining and represented us well. Best of luck to the Seniors!
GO TRIBE!
