RE: acc basketball
Barring some monumental collapse by UVa or injuries, it is possible that a win over Duke could virtually secure the regular season championship only half way through the conference schedule. Louisville would have to sweep UVa. UVa already has beaten UNC and Clemson.
When has a team virtually locked up half way through the ACC schedule?

You might want to let the season play out, huh?

The last time U.Va beat Duke in Cameron was 1995 and Coach K wasn't coaching. That history guarantees nothing but I wouldn't start assuming a win if I were a U.Va fan.

RE: acc basketball
How often do both Carolina and Duke lose at home on the same day?
With Johnson back in the lineup, State is a different team. And Yurtseven is playing like a 7-footer all of a sudden. They are 5-4 in the ACC halfway through the league season. If they match that in the second half, do they start to get included in NCAAT consideration?

Good advice.

Conference race is over in my opinion. UVA 9-0, UofL 6-2, and all others with at least 3 losses. Also consider that there are 7 teams above .500, but Virginia only has UofL (x2) and @ FSU remaining from that group. And Virginia owns Louisville beyond belief.
I just left the YUM Center. Nice performance by the Cards. I have to say that Bryant Crawford is the biggest punk I've seen in person at an ACC game that I can remember (outside of Grayson Allen who's at a whole other level). Crawford should have been T'd up as multiple times he was pushing after play stopped and talked way too much trash considering his team was getting destroyed.

UVA looks DAMN impressive. Their conference lead may be insurmountable.
Cards will suffer more losses for sure, 2 to UVA at least ... Our spot at 2 won't hold at all ...
It'd be nice to stay top 4, and keep that streak alive, but I think that may end this year ... and it most likely will end going forward, depending on next coach. And how all that shakes out.

The Wolfpack has to be the surprise of the season. They are out talented in most games but seem to have confidence.

Although UVa has dominated the series with the Cards so far, I don't expect that to keep happening. But if the Cavs just take one of the two games with UofL this year, I think that almost guarantees to keep UVa as the conference champion.

Of their 9 remaining league games, only 1 is against one of the top 4 teams in the current standings (Louisville). Four opponents are in the bottom five, and the other four are against the middle of the pack (all with 4 losses in league play to date). A 10-8 finish would not be a surprise at this point.
With injury riddled Notre Dame rapidly moving toward the wrong side of the bracket bubble, State could easily take their place. Who'd have guessed that when the season started?

That Stinks. If the coaches want, I'd be willing to lace up and step in as point guard for a couple games. But I can only play about 90 seconds at a time, with about a 45 minute rest period in between. I could just walk on.

Expect to see a D3 walk-on transfer from Grinnell College, Iowa to see some minutes tomorrow.

As I said, the race is over. UVA with a 3 game lead with 8 to play.
Louisville had their best offensive performance ever in ACC play against the Cavs. Louisville shot 50% from the field (first team to shoot 50% against UVA on the season), 44% from three (8 made), and 100% from the line.... and still lost by 10.
I think Louisville would have beaten about 345 of the 351 teams in the country tonight. No one is beating Virginia when they hit more than 50% of their threes like they did tonight.

I think you are right. Cards played well. Virginia is just tough right now and the ACC race is truly over.

The Cavs made some incredible shots. Just about everything Guy through up went in. Congrats to the Cavs.
