QB Next Year
This is way too early but what is the quartback situation looking like for next year. Is there anyone on the roster that will challenge Cole Johnson for the job or is he a lock? Do you think we might bring in a transfer?

RE: QB Next Year
It will likely be a battle between Cole Johnson, Gage Maloney and Pitt transfer Ben Dinucci.

RE: QB Next Year
We got a transfer QB from Pitt last month. He started several games for them this year. Should be a good QB competition between those two and Gage.

RE: QB Next Year
My guess would be Cole, but you’d think the Pitt QB is the most highly touted and likely most talented.

I don’t think it will be cole.

I bet the Pitt transfer with gage getting more seasoning.

Maybe. I liked what I saw in Cole last year. I figured the South Carolina guy last year. Time will tell....

RE: QB Next Year
I'm concerned.

Many felt this way after the '15 season, but I felt Bryan was never given a chance under EW. By that I mean the play calling totally changed when Bryan stepped in (the ones he started). What I saw in the RU game after VL went down, for that one game, showed me he had the tools to do the job. I don't get that same feeling with Cole, wish I did.

RE: QB Next Year
I was concerned when Houston came in that we had a QB issue and that was fixed pretty quickly.
There are three guys that are good enough to play under center. I have a feeling it's going to be Cole. We saw a bit of what he could do last year. Give him some competition and an opportunity to prove himself and he could really be good.
I have faith that Houston will get the right guy there, but have a feeling we won't know until July or August.

RE: QB Next Year
Compared to the QB play we see in the CAA, we'll be fine with whomever is QB, but think Cole will be great if he's the guy next year.

RE: QB Next Year
The QB we have next year will have the luxury of a solid offensive line, a solid set of running backs, and some decent talent at WR and End.

I think any QB will be fine.

Defensive line is my concern.

It will be Cole. Houston is very high on him.

Aren't we getting a defensive end from UVA. Moyne.

Yes. Moyne did well against ACC offensive linemen.

I heard the staff thinks the QB battle could very likely be won by Gage.

yea, i've heard Cole has regressed and will likely not be the guy.

its a matter if Gage is ready or not. I think they'l let him marinate another year and go with the Pitt QB first.

I would think that Pitt QB transfer, Ben Dinucci, is the one to beat. But it can be done. We all know how that guy from South Carolina turned out....what was his name?

RE: QB Next Year
This setting up just like the Vad Lee / Bria Schor transition...they brought Connor Mitch in and Brian stepped up and became great. Dinucci is coming in at the Shore / Johnson transition .. watch Johnson step up and win it.
