I don't have them this year for the first time. They screwed up when they set the donation level for "final four level performance", I'm not going to keep paying that to watch tubby sit there and not coach.
When we moved into the forum the donation for 6 club level seats was $2500, plus the ticket price of around 600 per seat. Last year it was 6300 donation and $850 a seat. If they would have cut the donation in half I probably would have kept my seats, but TSF wasn't interested in doing that.
All I can say is wow. That is an insane amount of money for a sporting event.

I got my first season tickets in 1999 in the upper deck. In 2000, I moved down the lower bowl at the pyramid and stayed behind the basket until Josh's last year. It made no sense to keep raising the prices when obviously the demand wasn't there. I kept them so when my kids were old enough they'd be raised on Tiger basketball. Instead, they only care about Tiger football and the Grizzlies. That's more about what all their friends care about too. When I ask about Tiger basketball, they look at me like I'm from another planet.

Tubby wields a wreaking ball to a program already severely shaken by Pastner.
Tubby’s job is to improve basketball results and not make it worse.

Think about those poor, hard-working scalpers. Tigers in a 4 year decline. And now the Grizz.
Support your local scalper! Their kids deserve a Christmas too. If not, they may got back to slingin.

Memphis is different than Houston of DePaul. You’re talking about 2 of the 5 most populated cities. They have multiple pro sports franchises. Memphis only has the Grizz. And they come and go depending on the record. I think we are more like UNLV when they hire Rollie Massimino. Something needs to be done soon however.

We still have two, down from four and yes, it’s getting harder to justify. As far as I know the only bone they have thrown was the offer to purchase additional seats at full face with no additional donation this year only. Pretty weak in my opinion when the general public is offered the $99 eticket, buy 10 get 12, and other offers throughout the season.
I suppose one advantage is that we’ve been able to take kids and grandkids much cheaper. Have hooked them up with freebie or $5 to $9 box office tickets every game so far and have watched the entire game sitting with us. May as well, there’s no one else on our row.

Even UNLV is not immune:

And....throw in the fact that the NHL team is coming soon and the parallels between Memphis and UNLV is a very, very good one.

I don't think running the table would put a full house in the Forum at this point. And of course, nothing remotely resembling that is going to happen. Too many jaded Tiger fans. Too much stuff unrecognizable as basketball on the court for too many years.
And if that weren't enough, add to it another high dollar, locked in contract, the university's sports focus almost completely on football, and a class about to graduate from the university this spring ready to get good jobs and spend money -- but since they were in elementary school the last time we went to an Elite 8, it's not going to be on Tiger basketball because they've grown up completely uninterested in it. When the last 4-5000 blue haired diehards pass away, somebody turn out the lights.

RE: Tiger BB attendance
I'm from out of state, and my connection to Memphis is that my kid is in the band. But I love college football and basketball, so I'll watch most of the games from home (although we do come out for a visit and go to the games in person).
I was at both games this past Saturday after Thanksgiving, and had bought the tickets right before they announced the sale where you could bring your football ticket to get in the basketball game for free. Anyhow, I was really surprised by just how small the crowd was that night, particularly since they essentially gave away 40,000 free tickets. I knew people were down on the program, but to see them play in front of an almost emtpy building was somewhat disheartening.
This was my second Tigers game at FEF - I went to the Temple game last year (I've been to a couple of NIT games at the Garden during Cal's years). In both games at the Forum, I was stunned by the lack of students at the game. Of course, the band, pom squad and cheerleaders were there, but the student section was pretty empty. Has this always been an issue, or has this just happened over the last few years?

Yes, let's bash the students for no-showing a freaking basketball, 2017 basketball, game v. Northern Kentucky during Thanksgiving break with a home football game earlier in the day.

Any guesses on what’s going to happen after we have several 30+ shellackings this year?

I won't go so far as to say it has always been an issue, but students haven't always taken full advantage of their student tickets.

I attended virtually every home game at the MSC as an on-campus student from 1977 until 1983. I remember a large number of students at pretty much every game, everyone jumping up and down and screaming at the top of our lungs - even in Dana Kirk’s first two losing seasons. But Kirk was a good promoter, recruiter, and coach and we all sensed that better times were ahead. Then Keith Lee arrived.

I was a student between 1990-93 and the student section was behind the visitors bench. I have great memories of the pyramid being packed and having to get there very early just to get a seat in the student section. These were the days that Penny played. We harrassed Bob Huggins so badly that he was cussing us out and it just fueled us even more. It was the days that Arkansas was really good and we harrassed their players and Nolan Richardson too. Those were THE days.....so much fun. I went to a game two years ago the week of Thanksgiving when I came into town to visit family(I moved to Iowa in 94) and omgosh, it was dead. I was going to take my girls this year and I passed it up. I think Tubby is a terrible coach and there is no excitement. I feel bad for the players and I want to support them but this is truly bad basketball.
