While the Military Bowl head guy was very open that they were dreaming of a Navy UVa matchup this year he said on record "We don't want Navy every year."
2015 was our pre+existing deal. I was actually a little surprised at this year - a little too soon, with UVA, they could take a chance on a USF selling fewer Tix than Navy (push for Navy in a year two when they have an ACC team LESS likely to put butts in seats)

Well, Navy didn't go to the Military Bowl last year.
Obviously, as it is played on their campus and has a "military" theme, the Military Bowl is a natural for Navy, so it is only natural that there would be a tendency to place them there. Not every year - that would be dull for the players, but there should be that tendency.
Also, because we have the deal with the Armed Forces Bowl, expect Navy to go there next year as they did last year if they also are eligible for that level of a bowl.
There just isn't anything surprising about military schools tending to go to "military" themed bowls.

Any idea of how the Navy players generally feel about playing a bowl game at home, excited or bummed?
I do know that Navy and Virginia have somewhat of a history though not a recent one. This will be the 40th meeting between the schools, and the first was in 1889.

They're kinda focused on Army. May get some quotes and other atmospherics starting the 10th.
The history piece is interesting for us old guys - the initial thought many had was probably the George Welsh connection, but most would put them on the list of old foes we just haven't seen much of, so a great bowl matchup.

One question we get a lot on the AAC Daily is, "How can we improve our conference's bowl tie-ins?" Buy your bowl tickets DIRECTLY from your school. Bowls factor this in when selecting teams and working out contracts. YOU can directly improve your school and league's bowl tie-ins.

Coach Niumat was on the Baltimore sports talk station this morning. Focus on Army-Navy but one question about the bowl "how do the players feel about being at home for this?"
Not verbatim, but close:
They probably wanted more of a trip, someplace warmer. But the players are excited to get one last chance to play on their homefield, especially the seniors

Got any good game-week anti-Army smack for us? My attitude is, the Army and Navy guys can talk smack about each other all they want, but the rest of us should be respectful about both.
E.g. on Facebook, one of my old high school friends who is a retired Army Colonel posted a joke the other day about Navy bringing in one of their Pacific Fleet Admirals to coach the defensive line in this week's game, in the hopes that Navy defenders will accidentally crash in to Army ballcarriers more frequently.
As a civilian, i wouldn't touch that with a 10-foot pole.

As a vet of OIF, who has many fellow officers that went to West Point, I can tell you they enjoy talking trash, but it is not serious.
Furthermore, its important to remember, that while the Cadets and Midshipmen certainly represent West Point and Annapolis, most veterans or those currently serving, don't really give a damn.

This lineup is pretty sweet. Aresco needs to work Memphis politics to get AAC vs. Big12 every year in Liberty.
Also first ever Sugar Bowl was Tulane v Temple. Obviously Big12 should be booted and make it an SEC v AAC matchup. Or at least get New Orleans bowl vs. #6 SEC/Big12/ACC

Only 5,000 tickets but at least we sold them out for the Frisco Bowl. Original allotment was 4,000 but we were granted more.

Still think they could move this one to Mt Ida. Play it at the high school...1800 seats is perfect.

So, Texas Tech is going to taunt you for sport and then kill you in front of a bunch of people?

http://www.pedagonet.com/blog/2005/05/bull-fight.html
Quote:A big Texan cowboy stopped at a local restaurant following a day of drinking and roaming around in Mexico. While sipping his tequila, he noticed a sizzling, scrumptious looking platter being served at the next table. Not only did it look good, but the smell was wonderful..
He asked the waiter, "What is that you just served?" The waiter replied, "Ah Senor, you have excellent taste! Those are bull's testicles from the bullfight this morning. A delicacy!"
The cowboy, undaunted, said, "What the heck, I'm on vacation, I'll have some!" The waiter replied, "I am so sorry Senor. There is only one serving per day because there is only one bullfight each morning. If you place your order now, we will be sure to save you this delicacy for tomorrow"
The cowboy placed the order and the next evening he was served the one and only special delicacy of the day. After a few bites, and inspecting the contents of his platter, he called to the waiter and said, "These are delicious, but they are much smaller than the ones I saw you serve yesterday"
The waiter shrugged his shoulders and replied, "Si, Senor ... sometimes the bull wins."
