Prior to clicking this thread, I thought the title meant the Dukes were ranked #2 now.

App St (5-4) fans seem to be excited about this game against GSU (0-8).
Haven’t seen a lot of wide angle views of both sides, but the crowd shots I’ve seen look good. It looks and sounds like a full and active stadium on a Thurs night.

I'll take the over. I'm thinking at least 10 seconds, maybe as many as 12.

Wouldn't that depend on the side of the bracket they would put them? We just need to win out and make the championship train go through Bridgeforth.

Games ESPN says will shape the standings:
SD vs NDSU
JMU vs Elon
SDSU vs SD
I believe when selection committee meets, they will also more carefully look at each seed’s wins and losses along with the SRS and SoS. Recall reading that meeting goes for many hours.
Last year, SHSU and NDSU (and others) shifted in the final weeks ranking/seeding.

^^ The seed # determines what side of the bracket you’re on.

Remaining games:
2. JSU (8-1) 11/11 @ Tenn Martin (5-4), 11/18 Tenn State (5-4)
3. UCA (8-1) 11/11 @ Incarnate Word (1-8), 11/18 Abilene Christian (2-7)
4. NDSU (8-1) 11/11 #9 SD (7-2), 11/18 @ ILSU (6-3)
5. SHSU (8-1) 11/11 @ Abilene Christian (2-7), 11/18 Houston Baptist (1-8)
6. Elon (8-1) 11/11 @ UNH (6-3), 11/18 #1 JMU
7. SDSU (7-2) 11/11 ILSU (6-3), 11/18 @ #9 SD (7-2)
8. Wofford (8-1) 11/11 @ VMI (0-10), 11/18 @ S Carolina (6-3)
9. SD (7-2) 11/11 @ #4 NDSU (8-1), 11/18 #7 SDSU (7-2)
10. NC A&T (9-0) (11/11 Svannah State (2-7), 11/18 @ NC Central (7-2/5-1). Winner goes to Celebration Bowl to face SWAC winner. If NC A&T loses, then @ 10-1 (win over UNCC & a Div II) they'll get an At large.
Next likely 3:
SUU (7-2): 11/11 @ UC Davis (5-4), 11/18 NAU (6-3)
SBU (7-2) 11/11 Wagner (3-6), 11/18 @ Maine (4-4)
Weber State (7-2): 11/11 @ Portland State (0-9), 11/18 Idaho State (4-6) (Lost @ Cal, & SUU 32-16. Div II win)

RE: FCS Selection Committee rankings (edition #2)
kind of silly that they rank 10 teams when only 8 get seeds. i realize 10 is a more round number, but A&T being "ranked" #10 means nothing. it will still come down to a bidding situation, which i'm assuming they would lose to Elon (if not seeded), Furman, Delaware, etc. they can be top 10 all they want (and i agree it's silly to rank them that high since they will immediately be crushed), but they had better pack their bags for Thanksgiving.

A de facto title game at BFS would be epic…however we hsve to take care of business vs the tics and Elon first. Have to think Bison will move up a notch if they win next few games vs tough opponents. Next two games for Jax State and UCA (and quite frankly their conferences in general) are a joke. But if we have to play the Bison at some point it may as well be at JMU.

Another variable to keep in mind ...
Eight teams will receive seeds and first-round byes. If two teams from the same conference are seeded, the selection committee is charged with placing them on opposite sides of the bracket, even if it means changing seed lines. The new rankings reflected that policy, although it could have been coincidence for the three conferences that had two teams among the top eight - CAA Football, Missouri Valley and Southland.

I have a hard time believing JSU and UCA stay ranked above NDSU if they all have equal records when this is put under closer scrutiny at the full committee meeting. The SLC is nowhere near the conference MVFC is, and the SRS/SoS measures should bear that out. Last year, the top several seeds changed the final week, and closely matched the SRS rating.
Still, JSU/UCA have one advantage: both schools are undefeated in FCS, while NDSU can not make that claim. The lack of an FBS game and tough conference games could work against the Bison this year in that way for seeding.

Didn't know that. But what if the 2 teams from the same conference haven't played each other like JMU & SBU.
-#6 Elon could lose to UNH before losing to JMU.
-#9 SD should lose at least one of their final 2 (@ #4 NDSU, #7 SDSU).
-#10 NC A&T will probably be in the Celebration Bowl.
Which means its possible SBU if they finish 9-2 could be considered for the #8 seed..

My impression is that these early rankings are just a preliminary vote of the 10 members that they talley up like the coaches poll, and not the same in depth analysis they perform at the full committee meeting. That meeting takes many hours (think it stretches over 2 days), and they break each team’s resume down in detail. I expect some things to shift a bit yet for the final seeds/brackets.
