Memphis in general has held the belief that they will not take part in anything if it is too much of a bother. Look at the Red Birds. One of the best seasons in history and went to AAA title game and attendance was among the lowest in the PCL. Because it was too much of a bother to go down town to watch a baseball game. The mindset of the city as a whole is we want it as long as we do not have to make any kind of extra effort to get it.

Personally, I would love to take in a few games a year. And if they had built the stadium at Shelby Farms, we probably would. It seems a daunting task to find parking, pay for parking, and then walking 3 or four blocks just to get to the stadium.

Are you ******* serious?

How many games have you made this year?

Memphians know where to find free parking and should be fine walking a couple of blocks to get to a game.

For one, any preservationist in Memphis. APTA just fought a battle last year to stop the Nashville affiliate from further destroying part of Belle Meade Plantation for commercial purposes. Any member of Memphis Heritage will tell you that Nashville has mowed down whole blocks of historic buildings that could have been creatively repurposed. Familiarize yourself with some of Memphis' successes (Tennessee Brewery, 19th Century Club, Justine's, Crosstown Concourse, Loflin Yard, on and on) and you will see what I mean.

Well, to be accurate, I USED to know where to find free parking. I used to go downtown when I could park parallel for free on the weekends, and the parking meters didn't cover every single parking possibility. When that changed, I stopped going downtown.

I was asking 21-17 Best Time I Ever Ha Wrote. He/she claimed it would cost $33 Million to demo the MSC.

if I did, it was from an engineering study, That building is rock solid with tons and tons of concrete. It would be a gargantuan effort to take it down.

If you did? You don't remember? There's a gargantuan different between $5 Million and $33 Million. Please just go ahead and admit that you were talking out of your a5s.

It would cost 30-40 million to RENOVATE it / make it ADA compliant. Tearing it down and hauling it off should be less expensive even with the likely asbestos removal and disposal.

Is a parking space a parking space if no one ever parks in it?

Aren't most buildings made of concrete?

Pretty sure explosives can tear up concrete.

So you let a $5 or $10 parking spot keep you away from everything downtown?

A while back she was claiming that it would cost more to demo it ($33 Million) than it would to renovate it ($30 Million).

There's a whole bunch of contorting and twisting and justifying I could do here, but I'm just gonna go ahead and save you and me a lot of time and say yes.

And the fact of the matter is, $5 would not, but $10 does. And part of why I don't go anymore is, I don't know which one it is before I go, $5 or $10?

For Fedexforum events and Redbird games parking on Gayoso has saved me hundreds over the years just have to get there a little early.

There's those little lots right next to the Forum where you give them a 20 or something like that.

Are they gone?

Two blocks from AutoZone Park North on Third at Court St, just slightly east, is a $2 lot. For the big spenders there's a $3 lot on the corner. Street parking is free after 6 and all weekend but these spots fill up fast on game night. Sit on the third base side of AZP, leave out the gate on Third, you're at your car in 5 minutes or less. I've done this for years. The only problem I've ever had is when the Joe Brown for DA headquarters was at Third & Court. Those folks had no idea what 'No, thank you" meant.
As for the Liberty Bowl events, I've used street parking off Central since the 80's. Buntyn (with light), Marianna, Josephine, Lundee. All are an easy right turn on Central after the game. Easy in and out, even with large crowds.

Life can really be easier if you're willing to work at it somewhat.
