Which of the other Amendments in the Bill of Rights reserve power to the State instead of to the individual? Which of the other Rights are limited to eighteenth century technology? Does the 1st only apply to State approved religions, gatherings and news organizations? Does the 4th only apply to papers written with turkey feathers and inside log cabins?

There is no "were they thinking this" history tests to pass on your Constitutional rights. It does what it says on the tin.

I don't have any guns now, lost them all in a canoe accident.

All of mine were swept away during a flood. And I have no flood insurance...

We should check just to be sure. 05-stirthepot

Sure, come on over. I have nothing to hide after my canoe accident.

I have five fishing rods and can only use one by state law. Oh, and a whole bunch of hooks.

How much freedom of speech, freedom to associate, and freedom of religion do you really need? How many civil rights do you need, anyways?

They have a line in the Amendments that people should not cross. When you have someone who own guns, but then he goes out and do a mass killing? That is abusing your 2nd Amendment rights right there.

What line is that? Anyone who goes out with a legally owned weapon and kills someone in cold blood does indeed abuse his 2nd amendment rights. Does that mean my rights should be affected? If you abuse your 1st Amendment rights should I be barred from speaking?

Doesn't get anymore simplified than that.

And if you area a convicted felon, you already lose your second amendment rights along with limitations on several other constitutionally protected rights. If you are a convicted felon, other people who are not do not lose their rights to vote or associate or possess a legal firearm, etc.
