Trevor Noah blasts Fox News response to Las Vegas shooting
ADVERTISEMENT
Hannity on Tuesday spoke about his experience using firearms and his view that mass shootings can be prevented if civilians are armed.
“If it’s happening within a crowd … you want Sean Hannity who’s trained in the safety and use of a firearm in that room, so when they drop the clip and they start to reload, you’ve got a shot,” Hannity said.

Actually, I posted this not to talk about Trevor Noah but specifically about what Hannity said.
This speaks to the myth that if people with guns were in the area that they would be able to shoot this guy.
Why do they keep perpetuating this myth?

Because there's no rational reason for our permissive gun culture. It makes us inherently less safe.
Having a bunch of armed attendees at the venue would have not made one bit of difference. Just like at the movie theater in Colorado.

I'm not going to click on your link because quite frankly, Sean is unbearably obnoxious. But I will say, I don't really care if the distance and angle made it unlikely to return fire. The point is, next time it might not be unlikely. The circumstances of this incident are unique to THIS incident. There are 100,000 possibilities of terrorist-like attacks.

Hannity's remarks were correct. The Vegas guy was not shooting within a crowd, so no, it would not apply in this case. It certainly would have applied at Sandy Hook, VT, Aurora, Columbine, etc. If someone had a gun in those massacres, there could have been fewer casualties.

Anti-semite, to be precise.
Strange the left would look to him for leadership on gun issues.

You know, back when a gunman used the University of Texas clock tower as a position to shoot students in the well known 1960's incident---normal citizens with deer rifles mounted on gun racks in the back window of thier pickup trucks (lol...yes, that used to be a common sight in Texas) returned fire during the incident. While they didn't kill the shooter, they did make it more difficult for him to kill more people. Back then, most cities didn't have heavily armed SWAT teams.

So true...from shopping malls at Christmas time to elementary schools to sporting events and concerts---we are extremely vulnerable to attacks on soft targets. We can't guard them all. An armed citizenry is pretty much the only option.
