If yesterday is any indication, it will be a long year for the Sun Belt.
Hopefully, USA can beat OSU, ASU can beat Miami or the Warhawks can sneak up on FSU.
If Liberty and Idaho are not good enough for us, maybe we should invite Tennessee State and Jackson State. They have great fans, travel well, are in the middle of our geographic footprint and can compete immediately.
Baylor had to get rid of the Briles tree.
Unfortunately he was the only coach that ever made them relevant.
Also, ******* lol.
Absolutely not true

Credit to them when it's due.... They beat a P5 team, and that's impressive, particularly since (I THINK) they are FCS.
I still don't think it was a mistake not to invite them, but they won and deserve credit for that.
Unless Baylor is the new Kansas. Then Liberty should have been favored. The 50 guys good FCS teams travel with generally are as good as middle of the pack G5 programs. Baylor may be below that middle level G5 this year as they essentially received a modified version of the death penalty; public shaming so bad that they will return to their historical mean.
I checked lines before the LU/Baylor game. Baylor was favored by 35+ points and LU had a 2.2% chance of victory.
Baylor didnt lose out on as many recruits as people think and they still have their big pile of money and great facilities and well paid staff. I would imagine that very few of the top prospects give a hoot about all the controversy. they want to play at a top program that they perceive will be a good showcase for their talents and that will lead to that big pro contract.
I lost interest in the Briles/Baylor story very quickly and didn't follow the develpments, as these type charges are in the "news" every other day, it seems. Were the charges ever proved? Briles/Baylor were in a no win situation regardless of the veracity of the storyline.

Moscow, Idaho is no closer to the rest of the Sun Belt since improving in football than they were when the decision was made, so improvement is irrelevant to the discussion.
2016 records
ASU 8-5
Idaho 9-4
We come from a worse start, post a better record than the vaunted Arkansas State Red Wolves, but there's no improvement to see here folks.

Idaho could go 12-0. Doesn't matter Moscow is still just as far away.

Nope. Same stance as always. Don't want to associate with Liberty, but won't try to stop them from achieving their goals.
I think I even stated somewhere that I would have supported Liberty fighting the NCAA going Independent. Turns out that was unnecessary (which is a good thing).
That has been my position. This is a game of money. Liberty does not need us and Liberty would be an odd man in the SBC.
Glad that they did not have to fight for a spot. I think they will do well.

they have the three key ingredients for competing at the highest level: plenty of money, good facilities, and an administration that is focused on raising their profile. how many in our conference have all three at the same time? they could be another baylor or tcu or byu in no time whether we like them or not.

If they become a powerhouse, that is fine. FBS football is not a zero sum game. There are people in Arkansas who think it will harm the UA program if they play AState because Arkansas is too small in population and wealth to support two teams, yet both schools are on streaks of setting new records in athletic fund-raising.
Liberty can be successful without causing any harm to the Sun Belt, if they are successful, good for them, but it won't create any regret for me that we should have affiliated with a school that has a very different mission and different vision for higher education. That doesn't make Liberty "bad" nor "good" just different. If they find success still doesn't mean I want to be in an equity partnership with them.

Still not seeing how scheduling a game a year with us was somehow an equity partnership. But to each his own.

...you think that joining a conference is equivalent to an indefinite scheduling agreement?
