Nah. Don't worry about UTSA.
Watch out for La Tech and Rice.
UTEP is going to get better too.
North Texas is a potential juggernaut.
But we all know Southern Miss is going to win the west.
Everyone please ignore UTSA.
Thanks!
Not convinced yet. Liberty looked a bit better against a poor Baylor team. Only thing concerns me about UTSA is obvious pick plays allowed to be run right in front of incompetent CUSA referees.
Looked better offensively perhaps, yes. But Baylor got about 3 starters back on their defense for us, who were injured for Liberty. If not for the muffed punt which set Baylor up in our red zone, Baylor likely doesn't even score a single touchdown against us.
And without intending to sound like a homer, I think we were in the more difficult situation, given Baylor's surprise loss to Liberty in week one. Shocking a P5 in a home opener is one thing, but someone else coming in and making them lose a 2nd straight game at home to open their season is a bit more tricky, especially after they get some injured starters back, have had a chance to make some adjustments, and the other team hasn't even played yet.
Yeah, UTSA had last week's game film to go by, while Baylor had nothing of ours from last week. But Baylor has new coach, giving UTSA one game to look at, unless we go back to Temple game films, which won't necessarily be on par with what he's doing at Baylor. Baylor had all of last season to look at for us, since we have the same staff and most of our starters haven't changed either.
So with all due respect, if the only thing about UTSA that concerns you is alleged pick plays, remind me again of what our score was when we met last year. Look, I've said to others that we shouldn't get too excited over this win right now because it's one game, and there are still unanswered questions. But if you have no concerns aside from officials, you're either naive or just have a penchant for reckless statements.
