Looks like Tutolo is starting to hit his stride. Nye was hitting his stride until this past weekend's 4 matches. Wondering if Conel will be healthy and in top shape headed into the end of MAC season, MAC Tournament, & NCAA Tournament?
Big weekend ahead @ Ohio U on Friday night and then in Stillwater OK taking on Oklahoma State. Then a 2 week break until they take on EMU @ EMU.
Bardezbain isn’t injured to my knowledge. Ferri was a recruit that Coach A said had an opportunity to start for us as a true freshman. I thought he was our best 125 at the wrestle offs so I’m not surprised to see this move. It’s not uncommon in wrestling to burn a redshirt in this manner as the wrestler can get a lot of match experience in open tournaments during the first half of the season while avoiding the pressure of being a starter right out of the gate. This “seasoning” serves as a warmup for the portion of the schedule that truly matters - conference duals and tournaments.
Tutolo is wrestling well because he’s remained healthy. I’ll continue to cross my fingers because if he gets hot at the right time, I still maintain he can be an AA. For the press release on the OU and OSU matches, Suglio is listed at 285 in addition to Nye. Something tells me they’ll split this weekends matches or Suglio is the new 285.
Regarding Conel, cardio, cardio, cardio. If he can wrestle all 7 minutes, he can do some damage. Taking off just one year reveals how difficult this sport can be. I remember Ben Rings who was having an outstanding career really struggling the season after his military obligation was completed. Without the proper diet and practice, it’s so difficult to come back and that’s why it’s rearely attempted.
We can beat OU. We bested Campbell who we lost to last year and we had Buffalo on the ropes. A win over OU would be another indicator that we’ve improved. Coming into this season, we needed more from 125 (accomplished), 141 (accomplished), 165 (accomplished), 184 (in progress)) and 285 (no change). It’s time to crank it up and wrestle!
