Agree 100%. I'm shocked at some of the comments I'm reading this morning. It's not about where the storm is right now. It's about the kids and their families needing to prepare.

My parents live on a Florida beach in the storm's path. They're going to the UGA-ND game Saturday, and decided to spend a few extra days in Chicago. They were greatful to have plans already arranged that took them out of town. That's how I see playing a road game 2000 miles away. The AAC should pay to bring wives and children up. There should be a contingency fund for that.
Don't be smug and moralize about this. Everyone just wants what is best and makes the most sense.

Thats why its stupid to cancel this game. Like i said earlier if your going to cancel the football game for family reasons then half of college should be canceling their games!
I don't live in Florida and I'm not privy to the discussions leading up to the decision, so I am not going to trash the officials who made it. I'm just saying that from what I know (which isn't much), I disagree with it.
I honestly think usf was afraid of losing so they saw the perfect excuse to avoid it by canceling the game.
Please stop the BS
I just evacuated from Miami to Atlanta on Thursday it took me 7 hours to get to Orlando a trip you can do in 3.5 hours normally, 6 hours from Orlando to Gainesville normally a two hour trip and 23 hours to get to Atlanta the entire trip the highways and sideways were gridlock and at least 45 minutes to an hour to get gas. Now we expect the entire state to feel hurricane winds and you are talking about USF scared to play UConn. Shut the hell up man that's one dumbest comments I heard on this board. People are going to die in this storm and we don't know if we will have homes to get to
My only problem with this is they decided it's better to cancel the football game and force the students to have to go through what you just had to. Rather than just evacuate their families to Connecticut.
So please explain how they are handling it is any better than what im saying.

How is forcing kids to return to Florida where they will most likely get trapped better than keeping them in Connecticut?
What is preparing going to do when it comes to a storm? Last i checked a hurricane doesn't care how prepared you are. If anything they should have played the game and just evacuated their families to uconn.
Like an earlier poster said alot of teams in this conference have huge amounts of players with families in Florida yet none of them are canceling their games.

Because thats where the team is.... plus its 2,000 miles away.
But apparently usf thinks its better to send the kids back to Florida where they wont be able to get out. All the while claiming they where doing a good thing.

No the notion of sending the team back to Florida then saying good luck to you is mind boggling.
I cant believe you ok with forcing them to go back to Florida where the might die vs evacuating them to a place where they already have hotels and such reserved.

You seriously think you know what's safer for USF players and family than USF administrators?

Never claimed i did. But it doesn't take a genius to see sending people to a disaster zone they wont be able to get out of is a bad idea.
Especially considering Tampa is now directly in the path of the hurricane.
Also blindly believing that administrators know whats best is stupid notion. They are people too not some infallible intelligence beyond our own.

I don't think you know what logic means.

No i do just because you don't like it doesn't change it. My cousin was fighting in Afghanistan when and getting shot at the week i had to take a final, should i have been allowed to be exempt from it? Because going by that logic i feel its asking to much of me to try and take a test when my cousin may die.

USF was never IN Connecticut. It's clear you have no idea how travel works for college football. The majority of teams leave the day before a game and travel home directly after the game is over.

This and flights out of Florida are booked solid with folks fleeing. Bad optics for a plane leaving out with a football team going to play a game while everyone is running for their lives....
