We can HOPE that a new BJCC facility will provide an improved fan experience, but won't the same folks probably be operating it? What happens then if after the first games, there is a lack of better concessions, soap and TP there?
(I strongly suspect that the TP and such are brought to Legion Field but over time find their way to the homes of the stadium workers as "bonus income")
You're calling stadium workers thieves.

There are two possibilities to our fan complaints about TP shortages. The TP was never supplied at all, or it was supplied but disappeared (by evaporation?) over time between games. Do office workers never take office supplies for personal (at home?) use? At WEHS we had reports of teachers or office staff running off weekly church programs on the school's paper and copier.

The Great Legion Field Toilet Paper Heist
With a dome stadium there would be enough room to store a warehouse worth of toilet paper, though

He wasn't the biggest cheerleader for UAB during the whole shutdown debacle, and IIRC was against an on campus stadium. He doesn't seem to like anything that happens in Birmingham unless he's got a finger in the pie. Getting him involved makes a lot of things easier, including the new stadium, and getting the new stadium under the auspices of the BJCC fits back into point one above.
Gene Hallman was not against our on-campus stadium. The Alabama Sports Foundation (another entity run by Mr. Hallman) was incredibly helpful in finding possible alternative uses for our potential stadium (outside of home football games and other university events). It was these potential events that showed such a facility could be used upwards of 200 days annually for events & meetings, large and small.
For those that don't remember, UAB's proposal used extremely modest attendance and monetary income figures, and those still showed the facility would likely be generating more income than it's debt service by year two of operation.

To me, one of the football program's biggest needs is to have a stadium that it fits properly into. At this juncture, Legion Field is too big for the program, which, largely, takes away home field advantage. It also has impacted recruiting in the past.

UAT still played their first game of the season in Birmingham at that time. The park board would stock the bathrooms for the UAT game and that was it. We would have the leftovers for the first game of the season. I spent years bringing my own soap and tp for my kids. If I was just a casual football fan instead of a diehard UAB fan I would not have gone back. Which was my guess. The list of issues and slights are long. Things did improve after the asshat retired from the park board and UAT stopped playing here.
Ah okay, so this hasn't been an issue the past few years? I was wondering why I had not seen a lack of toilet paper. I just figured it was because I typically use the bathrooms on the visitor side.
