Ohio state had a pick 6 on a bubble which was pretty much the reason they won. Don't recall BC getting one, but doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Worth pointing out that NIU's offense didn't do **** the last time they played BC. Only points came off a Lurry pick and return inside the 5 and a Turner kickoff return TD.
I'm pretty sure BC had one of the better defenses in the country then. I'm optimistic we have better showing this time
They did but they usually do have a strong defense

Don't know much about the BC defense as a whole but that edge rusher they have will be a handful. Sounds like maybe the best defensive player in America.

BC's D co-ordinator left for Michigan at the end of 2015.

I personally would give the ball to huff 300+ times this year. I still think he's clearly the #1 guy and will get the majority of carries.
But let's not act like he's perfect. It's probably a mix of some his warts and as 81 said keeping him healthy.
7, you are spot on with that assessment.

Can't be worse. We'll definitely need a BC D regression because Hare>than any QB we'll put on the field this year.

Who's acting like he's perfect? It's just that you have to do a bunch wrong to make up for the extra 3 yards per carry he provides, at least last year. If Huff gets the majority of the carries and the other guys are mixed in, that works for me.
Huff had a tendency not to take the 3 yards the defense was giving him and try for a big gain. (Read: gamble) Mostly it would result in a no gain play and the setup the team for 2nd/ 3rd and long. Not the strength of this team!
He is playing in a system and needs to follow what the coaches are asking him to do. We can only speculate but I have seen several occasions where Carey was upset after these types of plays. The other RBs behind Huff will certainly do it if they want to see playing time.

And even with that he averaged at least 2.5 ypc more than the guy that followed the play. I'd have to look at the plays again but I didn't see him pass up 3 yards and end up with no gain, or it seemed rare at least. I wonder if Carey yelled at him when he bounced it outside and went for a TD instead of following the play.

Yep. I saw that too. He has top notch ability and love his homerun hitting speed. Joel didn't have that yet he played more because he did all the other things better like blocking and following blockers. His game was suited to this offense more. I see Huff as more like a poor man's Barry Sanders. Capable of the TD anytime but not consistent with moving the chains. That wasn't his strength. I'm optimistic that he has grown in the other areas because this team could use his leadership. Imagine what he could do with a full load and all year on this running team. Sky is the limit!

If Huff can't or won't do the fundamentals, the coaching STAFF will be reluctant to feature him. We all hope that he has learned to block, not fumble, line up properly, and run the right effin way.

RE: UPDATED: 8/5 Practice Notes (8/6 Update on Page 4)
Just saying that Wolfe bounced it outside a lot and got most of his big runs that way. I'm quite sure that most of those plays were not designed to go to the outside. If a RB can average well over 6 ypc that way, it's hard to complain. Plus, when you get inside the 10 yard line against a team like BC it will be very hard to punch it in. It's a lot easier if you run it in from the 40 yard line when the defense isn't all packed in. Plus, I have little confidence we'll be able to run 4 yards up the middle, all the way into scoring range.
