RE: Wichita St fb may be announced soon
The question about this which could linked to my thread about Tom Osborn talking to other schools interested in joining the Big 10. ACC schools might be starting to sweating about now that ESPN have to cut the spending. Dumping on-air personalities are not alone to cut the costs. ACC could be at the verged of being raided sooner than we think. No ACC Network? No money for the ACC schools.
Big 10 grabs:
Florida State
Georgia Tech
Clemson
North Carolina
Virginia
Kansas
Texas
Notre Dame would be invited since they will still have an east coast schools to travel to.
SEC grabs:
NC State
Virginia Tech
Cincinnati
Oklahoma
Big 12 grabs:
Miami
Louisville
Pittsburgh
Memphis
UCF
Houston
Air Force
BYU
Boise State
ACC grabs still as a P5:
Navy
Temple
UAB
Southern Miss.
East Carolina
USF
Old Dominion
Tulane
Rice
Buffalo
UConn.
UMass.
ACC leftovers:
Duke
Wake Forest
Syracuse
Boston College
Notre Dame?
AAC are down to Tulsa, SMU, Wichita State.
MWC could lose San Diego State, Hawaii, New Mexico and Colorado State to PAC 12.
MWC would be comprised of:
Wyoming
San Jose State
UNR
UNLV
Fresno State
San Diego State
Hawaii
New Mexico
Colorado State
MWC possible grabs:
SMU
Tulsa
UTEP
Wichita State with football
Sacramento State
Portland State
Cal. Davis
Cal. Poly
Montana
Montana State
Idaho
UTSA
North Dakota State
South Dakota State
Missouri State
AAC is killed.
An FCS conference will be graduated to moved up. It could be called American Valley Conference.
Northern Iowa
Central Arkansas
Missouri State
Lamar
Sam Houston State
New Mexico State
Jacksonville State
Illinois State
Youngstown State
Stony Brook
Eastern Kentucky
Chattanooga
James Madison
Towson
Albany
Delaware
Liberty
Dayton (they might want to improve their pecking order for their basketball team to go full scholarship and go FBS.)
Fordham
ARMY
Kennesaw State
North Alabama
West Texas A&M
Mercer
UTRGV
Some of these schools could still wind up in C-USA since C-USA have been raided. Some could go to the Sun Belt Conference as well since they could still lose some schools to the C-USA.
That would open up a whole slew of spots for D2 schools to come up from coast to coast. These are possible outcomes, and not what is going to happen. If the ACC gets raided? The AAC is dead as we know it.

This is interesting, and a shame if there really weren't other conferences out there that wanted Wichita, because it seems like the buy-in was high for affiliation into a basketball conference that isn't quite yet achieving what it looks like it should on paper (and, spare me the reminder of UConn; I'm talking about why this conference can't quite crack the 3-4 bid ceiling).
Nothing is going to get better in the MVC. It's becoming the private version of Horizon, and without Butler, that's definitely not a compliment. Wichita is definitely doing the right thing by moving on from a conference it has been propping up along with Creighton pretty much this entire decade so far.
I just can't help but think, darn, A10 should have gotten this one. Even if a short stay like Butler, it cements the conference as that best mid-major or lowest major, depending on how you qualify it. It wouldn't have cost Wichita as much, and the conference is a RPI battery...do even remotely well, and you're easily a top 50 RPI school.

Doesn't necessarily need an FBS invite now
Will cost $42-47 mill to revamp Cessna Stadium and build IPF
Projected start date: 2019 or 2020

Not just the entrance fee ... look at my post #6 in this thread. WSU really, really, really wanted into the AAC.

The question of the other P5 conferences would do to kill the AAC conference off by taken the best schools to a point the conference is nothing? For Wichita's safety net, they should pull the trigger and add football.

Well, it's not like they have leverage. And, to Wichita, they can tap into the collective pot and know everyone's putting into it over the duration than currently. Yeah, they walked away from THEIR MVC money. Considering it's only been them and UNI putting in since Creighton left... was that going to change? Loyola? Valpo?
Sure, unequal shares and whatnot... credit distribution with the likes of UConn, Cincy, and others? That's not being taken.
I doubt the A10 would have been as costly, but, they weren't buying this one. Folks have said they were set and didn't want to be so scattered in the west...I wonder if there's more to the Butler visit; more frustration and an unwillingness to repeat that experience?
