Yep, now Detroit is done with KCP:
Adrian WojnarowskiVerified account @wojespn 42s42 seconds ago
Detroit is renouncing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, league source tells ESPN.
If Brooklyn jumps on this, not bad to have added KCP and D'Angelo Russell in one offseason.

Nets will probably have to wait for Wiz to match Porter to be able to sign KCP.

RE: Post Draft, JMike is Next Big Decision
The Hawks reached a buyout with Jamal Crawford, and just now declined to match the Knicks' offer sheet on Tim Hardaway Jr.
The Hawks have a ton of money to spend now. Could easily do an offer sheet outside the Grizzlies reach on JMike.
Get the feeling the new Hawks GM wants to do the total rebuild, tank this year, use his cap space to collect assets, get a top 3 pick next year. If so, doesn't make sense to sign JMike. We'll see.

I think it's 6 teams that have $10 million plus below the salary cap, but they are the same names: Brooklyn, Atlanta, Phoenix, Dallas, Orlando, and Chicago.
Phoenix and Dallas seem unlikely to have JMike interest.
JaMychal and his agent are playing a dangerous game. But, only takes one team to do the offer sheet. And other teams know how much the Grizz have to spend.

The Hawks are looking to add another Point Guard, Power Forward, and Center this offseason (BR).
If Hawks offer Nerlens Noel around $20M for 4 years, and the Mavs match, will the Hawks then turn their attention to JaMychal?

Green's agent is really messing him up bad. Word is, no one is offering Green. Let's see how it plays out, but I think Green should have hired a real agent.

Year 1: $10.5M
Year 2 : $9.75M

Year 4 (PO) : $8.5M
That's not a deal you offer a 27 year guy who projects to get better and the salary cap will go up.
It's the other way around. Player option of $10.5 million would be a good salary for the team for a starter level power forward in three years.

Amazing how well this FA and RFA season is working out for the Grizz re JaMychal. Many Grizz followers a month ago were saying JMike was gone, would get $15M+ per year. Kept saying Restricted FA is such a weapon if the incumbent teams use it correctly, which it appears the Grizz are doing.
Christopher Lavinio @ChrisLavinio Following
Teams with $10+ million in cap room:
Nets: $16.5m
Hawks: $16.0m
76ers: $15.1m
Suns: $10.6m
Hawks look like they will go with their rookie, John Collins, at PF. Doubt 76ers and Suns have interest. Nets? Picked up Demare Carroll and Mozgov's contracts already this offseason, so seems like they have made their move.
Could JMike not get a $10M offer sheet this summer? Seems likely now. JMike could just accept his Qualifying Offer, but that is a huge risk for a player who has never made much money before.

His QO should be really really low. It wouldn't make sense for him to accept it.
$2.8 million. He'd be a fool to take $3 million.

Taking the QO would be a gutsy move, betting on himself, because he would be an unrestricted FA next summer. Problem for JaMychal is even fewer teams will have cap space next summer. He's between a rock and a hard place.

Hawks have now signed Dedmon and Ilyasova, which probably puts them out of it for JMike.

I'm beginning to agree with this. As long as free agency has gone on now, nearly all the big money is gone. If Green was going to get the contract he wanted, it would've happened quick. The Grizz are simply waiting for him to sign a offer sheet which would be substantially less by now. Then the Grizz would match. Chris Wallace is holding all the cards here. Let the other teams set the market. It's just like 10 years ago when the Grizz signed Josh Smith to a undermarket (at the time) offer sheet which the Hawks quickly matched. Hawks were very appreciative.

Grizz FO has played it perfectly. Otto Porter and Tim Hardaway Jr. are RFA's that got big offer sheets this summer. Other RFA's are less happy.
3 years / $24M, maybe $27M seems plausible now. Grizz need to be firm on this, cause their cap situation is even worse next summer.

They signed him to a max that a team other than his original team could sign him to. Not an under market contract.

RE: Post Draft, JMike is Next Big Decision
Only 5 Restricted Free Agents left in the entire league. All power forwards and centers
Power Forwards
JaMychal Green (27)
Nikola Mirotic (26)
Centers
Alex Len (24)
Nerlens Noel (23)
Mason Plumlee (27)
No need for the Grizz to hurry this. They don't have extra roster spots, and unless Brooklyn or Phoenix surprise with an offer sheet, JaMychal and his clown agent have no negotiating leverage. Could go all the way to training camp, which has happened recently. Tristan Thompson did this a couple of years ago.

If JaMychal and his nutty agent were holding out hope for an Offer Sheet from the Nets, that ship has now officially sailed:

Portland has traded Allen Crabbe to Brooklyn for Andrew Nicholson, league sources tell ESPN.
Incredible. Portland has to be rejoicing. Crabbe owed $19.3M, $18.5M and $18.5M the next 3 years. Portland will waive and stretch Nicholson. Would have to think Portland is attaching future picks to the deal.

Mason Plumlee just got a lot of money from Denver. Hopefully that will not skew JMike's deal.

My thoughts exactly, bsp. 3 years / $14M for an RFA like Plumlee, when they start Jokic and Millsap. Makes no sense.

Matt Moore is a Colorado native and Nuggets fan (he also supports the Grizzlies). Not pumped about the Plumlee deal:

That Plumlee deal for Denver is significantly bad. Smells of doubling down on a mistake which front offices do often and rarely works out

RE: Post Draft, JMike is Next Big Decision
Started this JMike thread 3 months ago, hard to believe he is the last Restricted FA unsigned.
Something will get done soon, maybe today, and then Jarell will be officially waived. Then, one of the 3 backup point guards is waived - Mario, Harrison or Baldwin - and we are at 15.
