We don't really have any.

Davidson in basketball I suppose, but nobody else.

We got left behind by all the schools our fans cared about.

ODU has only been in FBS for three seasons, so no football rivals yet. Had they not made the move up and stayed in FCS and the CAA, the rivals would be JMU, William & Mary and Richmond in that order. I presume Charlotte will eventually be a rival but it may take some time.

Basketball is VCU first and foremost and then ... search me. I guess William & Mary second and the third is wide open. Charlotte? UAB? Even Norfolk State? No telling at this point.

For FAU it used to be FIU I would say now we would rather be rivals with USF. We beat them in Tampa the last time we played them.

For FIU I would say Miami.

RE: Rivals
For Tech, in football Southern Miss is #1. After that we've pretty much left behind most of our historic rivals (NSU, ULM, etc). WKU could eventually be one if we keep playing, and ULL is probably the school we hate most.

In basketball I'd still say Southern Miss but UAB has made a strong case for itself. We play ULL every year so I guess they would be the 3rd.

Honorable mention: UTSA football (I still don't get it, but a lot of others feel this way) and ODU basketball (that may have just been me though lol).

Middle... obvious
Marshall... getting there. Thought about putting Murray County in here as well. But it's more of a rivalry for them.
UL... just because they are the 1 instate school who actually plays is in bb. Had great games with them through the years.

Yea UM and FIU are not rivals and we are not rivals with USF.

You can't say we rather be rivals with this school just becuase we beat them 4 years ago.
FIU is out rival end of story.

UTSA is too young, but Texas St. , Houston, North Texas. I think soon it will be La Tech. Those football games are getting close to all out brawls on the field and in the stands.

RE: Rivals
It's too early for rivals now that we have moved to FBS, and I refuse to go backwards to CAA days. So I will restate the question slightly. Who do I want most to beat given our current status?

Football

1. Middle Tennessee (because across the board they own us!)
2. Western Kentucky (to be the best you have to beat the best, and we have not done that)
3. LA Tech (because beating them is fun, and I can rag on Dawgxas -- but USM and UTEP and Marshall are right there with them)

Basketball

1. Middle Tennessee (See No. 1 above)
2. Western Kentucky (with their last recruiting class, it will be fun to stick it to 'em)
3. LA Tech (See No. 3 above, followed closely by UTEP and UAB)

Honorable Mention to North Texas in both sports, because they will always be North Texas State University (good ole NTSU) to me.

04-cheers

RE: Rivals
Overall it would be NmSU and UNM.

In basketball we had a good thing going with UAB played some classics against them. ODU seems to be turning into something. WKU has a lot of potential but not there yet. The lost two seasons have seen UTEP overcome big deficits to make an exciting ending. I'm looking forward to when the Hilltoppers visit the Don. We used to play some amazing games against La Tech when we both competed in the WAC.

In football we haven't been good lately so we don't have much of a rivalry with anyone. That 5ot game against UTSA could be the start of something if we follow it up with a win at the Sun Bowl this year.

Basketball
UTEP - Tim Floyd brings it when he plays LaTech
UAB - We get cheated when playing at Birmingham

Football
UTSA - Built on hate. UTSA's obnoxious fans 03-wink plus thuggish football team made things interesting the last few meetings
USM - not built on hate, but I know both programs respect each other

Baseball
USM - they have a solid program
