I can see Houston, but while you guys may consider Texas and A&M rivals, I hardly think they see you in the same light. You guys weren't really even big rivals in the old SWC days. Texas is rivals with A&M and OU. A&M is rivals with, well, Texas. Aside from maybe baseball, Rice doesn't belong in that conversation.

UTSA - Built on hate. UTSA's obnoxious fans 03-wink plus thuggish football team made things interesting the last few meetings
USM - not built on hate, but I know both programs respect each other

Baseball
USM - they have a solid program

Interesting thing here is that our fans say the same about yours. Even a friend of mine who rarely has a bad thing to say about anyone, talked at length recently at a UTSA/Rice baseball game about how obnoxious your fans are. I definitely see the hate growing between our schools, as we both throw the same accusations at one another.

Speaking personally, I don't see our fans as being any more obnoxious than anyone else, nor do I see yours that way. It is what it is though, I guess. lol

RE: Rivals
For UTSA, legitimately, it's only Texas State right now. We were conference rivals for many years, and our campuses are in close proximity. UNT is probably 2nd. UTEP and LA Tech are slowly getting there. We just don't have a long enough, continuous, history with anyone aside from Texas State though.

Agree on Houston. However, outside of baseball, I get the sense that we care a lot more about Texas and A&M more than they care about us. Does that count as a rivalry?

Academically, but not in sports. Even Stanford, who we now play regularly in baseball, football and tennis, is really not a rival. And, yes, outside of baseball, the rivalry with Texas and A&M is one-sided, but for Rice student-athletes and alums, they are still are major rivals (along with UH).

Not last year. UTSA laid down like lambs in last years LA Tech football game. It was never close.

For WKU students, it's probably UK, Marshall, MTSU; in that order.

For me...CUSA

Football
Marshall (don't know why...rival needs to beat you :) )
Middle (played them so long...just enjoy beating them)
Tech ( No matter if one team jumps out...usually close at the end)

Basketball
Middle (took them about 60 years...but they built a winning program. Not Western level historically. But winning)
ODU ( Carries over from the old SBC and they probably care as much about basketball as Western fans (east))
Tech (Always get a good ole butt whooping when we play at Tech)

Actually, LA Tech has a commanding 4-1 lead right now on us. We've played each other every year since 2012, which was our 2nd season.

As a Rice fan I, I consider UH and Louisiana Tech to be our biggest rivals. Something could be growing with UTSA or North Texas, but it's too early to tell. I miss the rivalry with Tulane and SMU, but oh well. It is what it is.
