Chris Yannick Sodom (Tennessee Prep)
Quote:UNM has released from their binding agreements a trio of big men — prep center Chris Yannick Sodom (7-foot-3), high school forward Isaiah Poor Bear-Chandler (6-9) and junior college forward Mike Parks (6-9). All three talked with Weir since he was hired last week and, as the new coach put it, determined the fit might not be in the best interest of either side.

Well! There is the three big men(tall tree trunks) that we need. That would finish the deal, wouldn't it?

hey, no one is forced to cheer for Memphis. if one doesn't like the kids we sign, one could always take up gardening or collecting stamps.

No, just wondering about scholarships.

Memphis is at eight now (still waiting on Thornton's LOI, which will be nine).

Seems like Memphis still has eyes on:
Darrington
Hughes
Sodom
Hardy
Gordon
Hurana
(and those two foreign dudes from Arkansas?)

With four scholarships open, are they looking to fill all four?

Tubby had previously stated he wanted to leave two open for 2018, so if Memphis only has two scholarships they want to give, it will be a logistic impossibility to sign all the guys folks here are wanting.

That was the point.

Looks to me like Tubby is vetting his candidates for 2 spots, maybe 3.

Agree. Target #1 is Darrington. As for target 2... best available prospect we can get?

Ideally HAVE to get a guard and a big.

I'll go berserk if he only takes two and it is either two guards or two bigs.

How about two guards that can shoot the three, and two bigs. Wouldn't that leave one scholarship left?04-cheers

They would help out the other guards as well. I would say, we might could have a bench going.03-idea

We have 9 scholarship players for next season assuming no clearinghouse issues. I foresee them using 2 more, maybe 3 for the right prospect. That gives the staff 2-3 scholarships to use on the '18 class assuming no defections after next season aside from Rivers, who graduates.

Looks like we may have a boatload of scholarships for the '19 class.
