No doubt you have one heck of a major point there. As far as salary goes, he vastly underachieved.
Just a question ? not being snarky or rude but underachieved as compared to?
As compared to 3 million a year. Only in that context. Or, are you saying he did a 3million job last year compared to all the other coaches in college basketball making 3 million a year?
I did not say anything just wanted clarification , 3 mill is a good drop but I do not think we have anything to compare it to yet. How many overpaid players and coaches are out on the national scene? If that is what the Big guys "$$$" were willing to pay , wouldn't Tubby be really dumb to leave money on the table.
I have said before, I wasn't rah-rah about Tubby from the jump. I do respect the Man and what he has accomplished in his career and now he is our coach. So I hope and wish Tubby the best not only for Him as Coach, but for Tiger Nation as a whole if Tubby wins then we win.
We gotta give the guy breathing room to do some work. I know , I know he did not come in like a flaming comet recruiting but I do not think Tubby was even prepared for our Fanatical Fan Base and I mean that with the best intentions we are very passionate and smart compared to a ton of basketball school's. I have seen Grandmother's who know what a "charge" is and will scream at the T.V.. That should tell you all you need to know about ground level knowledge and the grasp of the game, but after 1 year I don't think we can compare it to anything even the $$ part.

Has Pearl been overpaid at Auburn the last 4 years? I'm not sure they have hit .500 yet?

That's their problem. Auburn shouldn't have written that no cheating clause in his contract.

I think it's the only way get it going quickly, yes I do. You can't start to attract the top players when the team isn't projected to win, you have to cheat to get them to play for you. Why as a 5 STAR would you play for a team that will most likely lose, and not offer you a vehicle to showcase your talent. They won't, that is why to build it clean, you have to do it through coaching. Much like Fuente did it in football.

Just because they didn't sign great players doesn't mean they didn't try.
Just like Pastner didn't try to coach, he tried real hard, he's just not very good at it.
lol. Pastner tried hard at everything. Rumor has it that this staff, with the exception of Joe Esposito, doesn't even break a sweat.
You are gonna believe a rumor?

Did any coach get paid 3 mill not to make the NIT? I don't go in for stats , but that question does jump out.

You don't have to cheat to win in fact you're better off if you don't. The secret is to get someone else to cheat for you. Gives you plausible deniability.

Well then I usually give a coaching staff more than one season to determine if this thing will get turned around.
Something happened towards the latter part since this same team was 18-7 at one point. Even our loss against SMU was a very close game and we handled UCF easily. Getting eviscerated by the same teams just a month later doesn't make any sense. So, I'm willing to give the staff a bit more leeway and staying away from rumors influencing my opinion about them. They have so far done a solid job retooling the roster for next season and then the '18 class will be key.
I remember what effect a cancer like Banks had on the '05 team. That team was very talented but one cancerous player changed the trajectory of the season. IMO, we just saw something similar happen to the last part of this season as well.

Everybody back then realized what having a player like Banks on the team did to their morale and performance. Maybe we just needed an Arthur Barclay on this team. Too bad we didn't have one.
