Other than the obvious of he found some idiot to give him the money to be on air. How does a clown like Jon Martin have a show? The numbers cant be that great. At this point Tubby has more talent on the bench than Martin does.

You are a fool if you think Memphis should have been punished for what the NCAA punished us for.
You can say what you want about Calipari, but the specific violations the NCAA cited Memphis for are dumb. What was Cal supposed to do, hold him out even though he was cleared?
Didn't say that.
We were punished because Cal was guilty of something, they just couldn't prove it. Do you really think Rose took that test in Detroit? Cal just got sloppy.
I could not care less if he took it or not tbh... college basketball is a skeezy sport. go watch Rhodes basketball if ya dont like it
I no longer watch for the most part. I only watch my two schools.
When you take short cuts and cheat, you will sooner or later be exposed. It has happened to my school two times now. I'm tired of being the definition of sleaze for corrupt schools.
Since I have one vote, and you probably have one vote we cancel each other out.

I would love to know your expectations for Tubby's future at Memphis. I have seen you defend him in almost every thread on the board. I think it was a bad hire because I do not think he can lead the Tigers to a sweet 16 at any point in the future. My standard for Tiger basketball is to reach the tournament at least 3 out of every 5 years and to make a sweet 16 once out of every 6-7 years. If you look back through history, that is not far fetched. I do not have much confidence that Tubby can do that with the way he runs his programs. I really hope I am wrong. I am sick of my Tiger hater friends being right about Memphis basketball and its place in the world
Ask them why they have football players who beat up on puppies and YouTube it.
One of them is a Tommy West defensive tackle. Made me sick to my stomach when I read about it.

MTSU shouldn't, they exploding due to growth of a thriving nearby metro, Memphis not so much. They use to be smaller than ETSU and Memphis, all of this is loosely related, IMO.

Believe it or not, I have the same expectations. Many are undermining the guy's qualifications and he's been coaching for over 40 years. The guy is notorious for rebuilding programs (proven track record) of doing so. Hence, this gets ignored, devalued, and minimized because of blind hatred. I would defend any new coach that's only had one year and inherited a nightmarish situation to begin with. The unfounded and inaccurate criticism of Tubby is just insane. He's well renowned all over the world and to be taunted and disrespected of this magnitude after one freaking season is insanity. I understand your reluctance or lack of confidence in Tubby but please base it on his performance in year 3. Realistically, he's gotten it done everywhere he's been and based on that factual premise or measure...I feel confident he can get it done here. I'm like you tired of being irrelevant. This deepseated hatred of Tubby has nothing to do with his ability to coach and that's why I defend him. I love the program and I believe he will take us to euphoric heights we can all feel again as proud Tiger fans. He at least deserves three years to turn the program around. I truly believe not based on hearsay or false media reports but on the coach's esteemed "record" and "qualifications."

I've been there, it's nice lot of new money. Been there before the new money, not as nice. Memphis doesn't have to make itself a toxic dump to improve itself (the city), and by extension the University. I love Memphis, but the city has some real problems.

I had a call from a friend of mine in Ohio. He said he was reading about all of the Memphis transfers and wanted to know what was going on. I explained some things and he said that the book on Tubby was that he was lazy and also would not recruit. I told him that is exactly what a lot of the fan base had already concluded and they were upset about the hire.
Your "friend" is simply pissed about his lack of access to the program.
Which is exactly what happened with your "friend."

I hope you're wrong too. If you are correct about Tubby the proof will be shown in the next two seasons. Until that unfolds, I'm holding out criticizing him.
Let's say that the program exceeds expectations the next two seasons. Reasonable expectations in normal circumstances would be an NCAA tournament appearance and win in year 3 with expected continued improvement.
Let's pretend that Tubby is able to do this while barely recruiting any players in the top 100 of the rankings. Criticism would still be justified because there is no excuse for Tubby not being able to close any of the local kids and recruit well at a national level.
Anything Tubby actually achieves will fall short of the potential that this job afforded him based on his first 2 recruiting classes.

That is such a lazy argument. Why in the world would Gary (I assume that is who you are talking about) care about access to the Memphis basketball program these days?

Hmm. So expectations can be raised on-the-fly, based upon recruiting rankings - but expectations cannot be lowered. Seems fair.
