Of course this thread was solely about basketball until he brought in football when he didn't have another argument. Only CV would try and argue that winning 4 regular season basketball games (not even 4 in a row) trumps a Final 4 appearance.

F4 appearance>ACC Championship in my book. It shouldn't be...but that is how teams are judged now...all about the NCAAs.

I bet ClemsonVegas didn't even see the Tigers play a basketball game this year.

i don' understand how you can say making the final 4 (and this after a pretty bad season) is better than winning a conference title. I know Coach K likes winning the conference title.

you seeem more like the kind of fan who doesn't watch basketball until the tournament. you say stupid stuff like 'NYC is the mecca of college basketball' .

most basketball fans don't even remember Cuse was in final 4 last year. they were part of the reason the Final 4 sucked until the title game.

that wasn't my point. my point is winning 4 games in the Acc is more impressive than beating the the teams Cuse won last year. i never said it 'trumps' anything, that is just your dumb hack spin. i think numerous ACC teams could have won those 4 games.

and Cuse got blown out against UNC. they weren't on the verge of winning a title. the point is to win the tittle, Cuse did not win the title. you guys act like the final 4 is the title.

Cuse didn't have a great record last year, it cracks me up that you are making them out as an amazing team. they lost first round to Pitt in ACC tourney. obviously when a team bombs out in ACC tourney, they will say making final 4 is better. lol

Just because those teams didn't have the name recognition, I assume this is what you're referring to, doesn't mean that those teams weren't any good. They were good enough to beat teams with a better name recognition & to survive & advance. Making the F4 isn't an easy feat. Making the tournament isn't an easy feat, just ask Northwestern. Winning 4 games in the ACC tournament is impressive, picking 4 random games during an ACC regular season not so much. What FSU did this year, going 5-1 against 6 straight ranked teams is impressive. That's my opinion.

the second i post on here, you pop up. stalker got to stalk.

you ought to hang a Syracuse Final 4 banner in the Lville arena, it means so much to you.

i don't think a team getiting their butt kicked in the Final 4 is something to brag about. they obviosly didn't belong in final 4. other teams could have been in the game with UNC.

what about commuter school Lville?

lol

if you want to make case beating Middle Tenn State, Dayton, and Gonzaga is more impressive than beating good 4 ACC teams, go for it. that looks like NIT schedule.

Just so I get this straight, are you talking about currently NCAA. #1 seed Gonzaga being an NIT quality team? Thats the same team SU beat last year, along with Virginia to get to the FF. Dayton was a ranked team going into the tourney, and Middle Tennesee State blew out Michigan State by 30 points. The game was never in question. Just because they didnt have big names on their jerseys doesnt mean they werent good teams. BTW, SU was the underdog in every one of those games.

you realize Cuse didn't have a great record last year? and they lost in first round of ACC tourney.

do you think overall resume matters?

do you really beleive Dayton, Gonzaga, Middle Tenn State play schedules as tough as ACC teams?

Cuse was a bubble team last year. the premise of this thread is 'what a difference the newbies make' and a bubble team is being used to make this case? the same program didn't even make the tournament this year. how many programs make final 4 one year and then in NIT the next. it seem like if a program is truly making a difference, it is a consistent thing.

Zaga has been seeded high in the tourney numerous times but they don't ever win it and usually get knocked out early.

I believe Dayton and Gonzaga were both better than a few ACC teams, and would have been the favorite against those teams in a head to head. Vegas thought they were better than Syracuse. We are way past the fact that SU did not have a great season last year and their resume wasnt great. But they did go to the FF and beat some preety good teams in the process who were expecting to beat SU. That is also a fact.

RE: What A Difference the Newbies Make
ok, well i don't think Cuse's final 4 last year says much about the conference in general. they got blown out by an ACC team on the biggest stage. if they are improving the conference, they should have better record in conference, not losing 1st round in ACC tourney, and being a higher seed in the big dance. this year 9 ACC teams got in, but not Cuse. BC and Pitt didn't get in either or even make NIT. so i think the premise of the thread is on shaky ground.

it should be a consistent performance thing.

Guys guys guys. Let's all remember that CV is the resident college basketball expert here. Every point he's made in this thread has been spot on.

i haven't seen you or your clones say anything that refutes my points. what the hell a 'basketball expert' anyway. lol who decides that? Some hostile Lville fan on the internet? you the expert because you say so, homey.

i don't understand how a program that squeaked into the tournament last year and got blown out in final 4 is something to get real excited about as far as ACC goes. i can understand Cuse fans were excited about it partly b/c it was so unexpected. lol

i think the ACC for most part has remained Duke and UNC's league since expansion. UVA has gotten better but so far not doing much in post season.

reality is Cuse deprived people of an exciting final 4 matchup last year. that's why the tournament should give top seeds byes at least in the first round.
