I agree with Frank and Sam. And we need to understand the PROCESS.
I don't know if Lyke would simply accept applications or go through a search company.
If she goes through a search company they may have SCORES of candidates who are looking for: a D-I, mid-major HC job in the Midwest. Don't they screen: What job: D-I HC. What level (high major, mid major, low major), what areas of the country, salary requirements (e.g., 150 - 249K, 250 - 349, 350 - 499, etc.)
The list might include some of the applicants for the Detroit-Mercy job or other jobs in the Midwest.
It could include D-I assistants across the country OR it could include HCs from the so-called D-I low major ranks.
Like remember Lyke has a lot of experience at Ohio State. She knows (and has contacts) in B1G land. Any number of B1G assistant coaches could be candidates.
Remember, wasn't CC chosen based on a recommendation from Tressel whom Lyke knows (I believe I have this right).
E.g., if Lyke was looking for a HC a year ago, Jeff Boals of Ohio U and OSU (coaching) would have be a good candidate. (he is now HC at Stony Brook).
This is a very good resume for a mid-major MAC coach (pardon the expression, but he 'checks all of the boxes').
1). B1G assist coach.
2). Fmr. MAC assist. coach.
3). Fmr. MAC player.
4). Born and raised in the Midwest.
