All about the buyout, if there even is one. If it's less than 500K as reported UK can say " Here Southern, go pound sand. Schedule yourself at a P5, or at home vs. Marvin's Lumber. We don't care."

I expect they'll come at this point. Milbert better pray so, lest he try to sell season ticket packages to SUNWACUSA, Southern, and Crescent City Grill.

I'll admit BDR can be negative, but that didn't come off as such. Came off as honest to me.

If there is a buyout as you suggest, I sure hope it's more than $500,000. But there's bound to be a no-go date also. Surely they wouldn't allow them to buy out a couple months before the date.

First day here?

I doubt any layman knows the contract details, or the overview even. From what I gather this is all speculation coming from a UK site, other than the rumor USM athletics is significantly 7 figures in the red. Enough dots can be put together to conspire the game being moved, but at this point it's as clear as Ace's U Suck My footballs helmet mock up.

As said, I think the buyout offer is on the table, but if it's an offer of only $500K... Dem wildcats better get on the bus/plane/limo/horse and buggy. and better drag themselves down to Hattiesburg

RE: Kentucky game moved to Lexington?
There cant possibly be a buyout of $500k. Would have to be closer to $2 mill. Prob $2.5.

The amount of money lost from ticket sales alone would be about $1,000,000....so the buyout cant be $500k (unless they negotiated future games as well).

Actually, even if they did negotiate future games, i dont see how it could be a $500k buyout. That would result in a net loss of over $500k. If we are already millions of dollars in the red, then we cant afford to add half a million more.

RE: Kentucky game moved to Lexington?
a buy out with Kentucky would pretty much force me to NEVER join Eagle Club again. It would only prove that it's an obvious and pointless waste of money. What's the f'n purpose if I got to sit in the Rock to watch us play Southwest Texas State University. I can tolerate those SH#T games if we have at least one or two decent ones at home. Sell away our only decent home game and what do we have left.....screw this.

Considering we got this home and home with UK only because UAB didn't have a team to play them, I would be surprised if the buyout was that high. My guess would be closer to $200k.

help me understand how we could do a $200k buyout. ?

if we keep the game at home....we argue that 36,000 tickets sales at $25 a piece (estimates) = $900,000. plus concessions = roughly $1,000,000 total that we stand to lose by not having the game at home. Again, these are estimates but any way you slice it, its pretty close to $1,000,000 i'd imagine and reasonable to argue to Kentucky. Therefore, we would lose $800,000 by selling it for $200k, rather than making $1,000,000. plus, we would have travel cost to Kentucky. explain to me how or why we would sell the game for $200k...or $500k....or even $1,000,000?

Well, you have to also consider whatever we'd be getting paid for the game in Lexington. That's assuming they're not trying to dodge us completely regardless of venue, in which case we wouldn't get that.

RE: Kentucky game moved to Lexington?
If they can buy us out for $500k or less, they'll just cancel the game altogether and bring in somebody else. If there is no one else, we have them by the doo-dads again if they want to move it. Either the game stays here, it's moved and we get paid, or it doesn't get played at all. It's not being moved on the cheap.

The most fascinating thing about it all is how a guy who didn't even bother to put anything in his Twitter bio managed to launch a 6-page thread here with one unsourced sentence.

I thought thats what i just did. $200k to come to Lexington to play. $1,000,000 lost revenue by not paying at the Rock = -$800k in the hole.

I cant see that happening. Besides, we dont even have an acting AD to be negotiating right now. Unless hes working from TN. which i guess he could do.

RE: Kentucky game moved to Lexington?
Reggie, buying out the current game and us then going to Lexington would be two different transactions. The buyout would just nullify the current game scheduled for here. A game in Lexington would require a new contract.

Not sure it'll be 36k, but it'll be a good crowd. Something like 33-34k sounds about right.
