I think this was a pipe dream based off of a tweet about him coming to Ohio and thinking it had anything to do with UC. He is most likely back at OSU and soon to be with the Suckeyes program again. I have no idea why these young student athletes like to play games and put their "teasers" out there. Ridiculous IMO.
Speculation was based on a tweet by BearcatReport/Russell Johnson. He's scooped most stories related to recruiting and coaching hires well before anyone else. If he tweeted it, I absolutely believe there was something to it. May not eventually happen, but IMHO this was more than just speculation based on that tweet about his flight.
There is definitely smoke. A lot of UC players have started following Gibson on twitter as well over the last week and a half. The OSU sites are still saying they doubt Gibson returns to OSU.

RE: Thoughts on Torrance Gibson?
OSU people think he won't get allowed back in. The UC stuff was stoked up by a few tweets - mind you never anything from Gibson himself, but rather by OSU observers.
He's actively trying to get back in to OSU.
IMO - if that doesn't work i think he goes the JUCO route. after a year he'll be one of the hottest commodities on the market just as he was as a HS recruit. Unless there's some unknown connection he's made with CLF idk that we're in any special position to snag him. That said, since Urb has an affinity for him perhaps he would make the recommendation to come on down 71.
Either way....i think it's a pipedream atm

Fwiw, it's been reported on several premium sites his family doesn't want him going JUCO.

Yeah, this is true. More specifically, it's his mom, who reportedly doesn't want him to go to JUCO cuz she thinks he's D1 talent. Obviously he is.
Nevertheless, he has indeed secured a spot for himself at a JUCO already by signing their NOI. Yes, it's non-binding and he's free to go elsewhere, but at this time JUCO is clearly his safety net landing spot. Has the calculus changed since CLF landed at UC? Perhaps. however, there's no actions he's taken or spoken that indicate that UC is on his radar.
The rumors are he ain't gonna make it back at OSU. Even still, he remains in the CO and it's basically mid-week now. He's not enrolled at OSU, nor at UC. He's going to have to do a pretty fast about face to have any hope of enrolling at UC - if that's even possible at this point (idk if it is, but someone else in the other thread thought you get up to a week to do so at UC). He's being awfully nonchalant if we're his next destination.
would love to land him, however based on what he's done up to this point things look less than likely

Can't listen at the moment, is he going for this semester and summer try to make it for fall, or is he spending the next year there and playing for them?

He doesn't explicitly say when, just not right away.

They do not have a football team.

Awesome find, man!
Per OSU insiders his academics weighed heavily in the likelihood he wouldn't be accepted back. Apparently he wasn't the stellar scholar.
I guess this helps explain why he remains in the CO.
Happy to hear I'm wrong about him going the JUCO route. This would be a monumental come up for UC. I'm guessing he can apply and be admitted for fall semester (STILL can't let go of UC being on these rather than quarters when i was in school).

Could he enroll for the summer semester at UC? That's what I originally heard the plan was...for him to be here by summer.

There was a rumor of an OSU QB transferring to UC. Many jumped to the conclusion it was Joe Burrow. I guess this solves that riddle?

RE: Thoughts on Torrance Gibson?
Thankfully, there are student privacy policies, so we don't (or can't) know the specifics of his or any student athlete's academic issues. Speaking broadly, I'd rather UC take the risk on student athletes on the academic side rather than those that have character or legal issues (not speaking of partial qualifiers here either). From what I've read so far, the issues are academic ones. UC has excellent people, services, and facilities to help those willing to do the classroom work.
But so does OSU. Sometimes though, the change of scenery can be a wake-up call and the second chance yields a great athletic career with at least acceptable academic performance. Not knowing specifics, it's exciting to think about a fresh start on the field and in the classroom for such a gifted student athlete. It would seem he has the ability to be a game changer--making the players around him all look better because of his talent. Excellent QB performance has yielded a quick turnaround for several AAC programs. It's our turn.

Oh snap, you're right. There's no reason he couldn't - assuming whatever ails his grades is amendable in one semester at CSU

I am all for taking academic projects if the staff believes the guy fits the team and has the work ethic. Sometimes college is a big shock for an 18 year old academically. I struggled my in my 2nd quarter at UC and it took that academic probation shock to kick me into a higher gear. It's not just athletes that struggle to adapt, and they are lucky that they get far more resources than the common student to turn it around.
