Outside of Akron for obvious reasons, the games that I'm most looking forward to are CMU @ EMU and UB @ UT.

Edit: Not arguing with EMU being favored at home, but 8 points seems like a lot. If I was to place a bet on it, I'd have CMU covering.

Miami wins 69-67 against NIU, the first time we've won our MAC opener since 2010-11. Toledo thrashes UB by 32 too.

Hopefully you didn't bet on it. EMU blows the doors off of CMU. Our zone swallowed up their high scoring guards and they had no answer for our front court. Impressive start, but similar to last year. We still need to find consistency.

I don't think anyone expected Toledo to beat the crap out of Buffalo tonight. 86-54.

Ohio takes care of business at home against Western Michigan in the Convo 89-58.

Meanwhile Akron holds on to beat Bowling Green 89-84

Bookies know their stuff. Three best teams in the MAC are Akron, Ohio and EMU.

Big point spreads for those three.

As I've suggested before, I'm not a fan of UB. I think they won last year with Hurley's recruits, etc.

This year will be different. I see a decline.

Can someone verify, I saw this on ESPN boxscore, Kent 31-31 from the free throw line , is that a typo?

It is true. MAC record. NCAA record is 34/34.

Thanks, refs, for making it such an entertaining game to watch. Over 60 FT's total in the game.

Dambrot became Akron's winning-est coach. He's 11 wins away from 300 wins with Akron and 12 wins away from 400 career wins overall. It will be a disappointing season if he doesn't hit both those marks this year.

Meanwhile, Miami shot better from three point land than the charity stripe yesterday...

Buffalo looked awful, but I was very impressed with Toledo.. They have some really good players on that time.. Definitely going to be a force in the league this year

now that Jonjon Williams is playing within himself and like a senior, he is taking off and looking like a POY candidate. Taylor is a quality big, Knapke a rising star at a legit 6-11 and Jalen Sanford who was forced by circumstance into the pg role, seems to be starting to get comfortable there after an up n down first 2 months. Plus, a yoga regimen has reinvigorated Jordan Lauf's achy knees and he has a bounce in his step to go with his junkyard dog role player approach. A UT team that had a lot of us fans uncertain a month back is now starting to gel at the right time.

I'll pass on the jello that's been in the fridge for two months.

RE: MAC Basketball Week 9, 1/2-1/8
Dambrot has led Akron to 3 regular season titles and has led Akron to 3 MAC tourney wins. Only 1 time has Akron won the regular season title and went onto win the tourney the same year. Peaking at the right time is definitely what's most important. It's also why I'm high on this Akron team. I feel their ceiling is higher than arguable any of the past Akron teams even though their play may not have shown it up to this point.
