Baylor?
His isn't a texas guy nor does he fit the big 12 style of play.. Overall I think this will be a bad decision
Style of play? Who cares? You can win playing a variety of styles. Baylor has been a top 10 program for the last few years. Texas guy? Mack Brown came over from NC and had a pretty successful career. Leach was from California and coached as an OC at Kentucky...he managed to do pretty well at Texas Tech. Good coaches find a way to get it done. If he was going to a coaching graveyard like Kansas or Purdue I may have more questions, but he isn't. Now he gets a chance to do it for more money at a high level. He isn't going to fail because he's not a Texas guy...
Tell that charlie strong (prostyle) a pro-style guy who struggled immensely in the spread league and struggled trying to adapt
Tell that Kevin sumln (a spread guy) who struggled badly In the sec and is now struggling to adapt to a pro-style
And your comparisons are WEAK. Anyone can recruit at Texas, they are Texas.. I dare you to look at Baylor recruiting before briles, or what they are doing now without him
And Mike leech coach at Oklahoma (mainly recruits texas) before coming to Texas tech..same reason some Houston fans want Riley (Oklahoma ties)
Baylor has 1 recruit committ, lost 12 recruits last class, and Atleast 6 transferred since, and more will definitely transfer .. They need talent and depth badly, really badly...
Look at UH in basketball, Sampson doesn't have any coaching ties to texas (recruiting wise) despite being in a city where 8-10 4star or high bball players come from every year, all 3 years we have only been able to recruit out of state jucos
Herman when he built his staff his said his priority was getting coaches with Texas ties, everyone on our staff but our DC has Atleast 5 years recruiting texas
