This.

He left Temple better than he found it.

Temple has a lot to sell the next guy.

It hurts. Knew it was going to happen at some point but Baylor? What a crap show. He will have his work cut out for him...

Those Baylor fans who are used to 500 yards and 40 points are going to be in for a RUDE awakening 03-lmfao

Rough one for Temple. I for one thought there were only a few he would leave for, and they're all on the East side of the country...this one doesn't make much sense other than the money and the fact that Temple is probably in for a big regression with losing your QB, #1 RB, and quite a few on the defense. He got out at the exact right time for maximizing his return...that's why I would never understand PJ Fleck staying another year at WMU, he'll never be hotter than he is this year.

Damn, did not see that coming. He seemed committed to building something at Temple. Then again, so did Herman. Sorry Owl fans.

I expected Rhule to hold out for a P5 job in the NE or Midwest. But Baylor offered Morris $4.9 Million....perhaps they offered even more out of desperation.

Dude has never even lived in Texas...this is a really bizarre hire. Guess he sees it as a money grab, but figured he could find money on the East Coast at some ACC program.

Baylor has been a very, very good program recently (on-field standpoint, of course) thanks to Briles. But, and this is probably more dependent on success of Herman/if Sumlin can have a big year next year, Baylor is on a VERY slippery slope from a competitive standpoint (as others have noted). Growing up in Texas, everyone knew Baylor as a mediocre SWC team and the absolute b*tch of the Big 12. With their 0-6 finish this year, it's very easy to see this hire going wrong (mainly due to lack of recruiting connections, as I think Rhule is a damn good coach) and Baylor returning to the basement of the Big 12.

Aside from that, Philly to Waco is gonna be one hell of a culture shock for Rhule and his family.

I liked that guy, hate to see him leave the league.

I could be wrong but I really don't see his style translating well to the Big 12. Probably a good time to move on though, a HC is only as good his QB.

People worry too much about where the coach is from... what were Urban Meyer's ties to Utah and then Florida before going there? Saban was a midwest guy until LSU hired him. Really good coaches will find a staff that can recruit the area and will be successful.

The problem is you are always one coaching hire away from being UCONN. Temple is in a better situation now and can attract better candidates, but it is always a toss of the dice.

Man, talk about a curveball out of nowhere... This is probably one of the strangest hires I've seen in quite a long time. Yikes

I dont see the fit. A Jersey/Philly guy, northeast type guy in Texas ? I wish him luck, but this could be a huge career mistake. Baylor is a train wreck.

Aresco already said he knew there would be coaching attrition. You are late to the party.

Just like he knew we would be making $2mm per team for the biggest bargain in sports entertainment, guys a genius and worth every penny of his P5 salary.

Shocker to me. I really like Rhule. This seems like a big mistake, but time will tell.

and people wonder why attendance issues are becoming more common

we can't even get excited about our teams success without thinking in the back of our mind that the coach is going to get stolen in 1 week

Right. How can you build a fanbase when fans know that even if the coach succeeds, he will be gone in 2-4 years. Then the program has to (in many cases) start over.

It has become blatantly obvious that the AAC is where it's at if you want a high-level P5 job. Buyouts need to go up across the board. If coaches don't like it, best of luck accomplishing that goal from CUSA or the Sun Belt.

Also, f*** the Big 12.
