UConn sits at 14-15 overall. Haven't had a losing record since 1986-87.

Xavier looks terrible. Down 13 at the half at home to fellow bubble team Marquette. Danger danger...

And UConn will put it all together, shoot lights out, while the Bearcats shoot poorly, and make the Bearcats stay at the AAC tourney short.
I believe UC will win tomorrow v Houston but lose Sunday v UConn and then lose to UConn in the AAC Tourney and fall to a 7 seed for the NCAA tourney.
Hope I'm wrong...

If UC loses to UConn Sunday UConn will not fall to the seven. They will likely stay the five as they would be 10-8 and Memphis and Tulsa would likely be 9-9.
In that case Tulsa would be the 7 seed, as they would lose the tiebreaker with Memphis because Memphis has a win over 3rd place Houston where Tulsa does not.
All of this goes out the window though, if Memphis or Tulsa gets upset by Tulane or either one upsets SMU.

Xavier blown out at home. Marquette is competing with them for a spot. Who would take X over Marquette now?
Prediction - they will be around 32-34 RPI after this loss. Their chance of getting in is roughly 40% now. [/u]

If we lose to UConn and fail to get past the first game of the AAC tournament, regardless of opponent... we ain't doing **** in the NCAA tournament. I have a feeling we will only lose one more time before the NCAA tournament... just not sure when.

I'm not saying they can't beat us but I'm with you. The whole 'uconn mystique' isn't going to work this year. The fact is, they just aren't a good team. This isn't a loaded talented team that will finally put it all together in March narrative you have seen in the past. This is a team that has been hurt bad by injuries and though they have some good players, they just aren't a good team. No reason to lose to them. They just lost to ECU for pete sake and are sub .500 for the year.

I would too. But only if UC can score 60 or more points on UCONN's home court in Hartford. That might be a tall order given the problems scoring on the road this season. Any venue other than Hartford and I think UC would cruise to a championship game with SMU.
I hope your prediction is right. It's always good to beat UCONN given the stature of their program this past decade.

On the conference tournament issue. If Cincinnati doesn't beat UConn on Sunday then UConn is on the other side of the bracket. If UC does beat UConn on Sunday then I am not worried about playing them again. I actually expect Tulsa to lose at Tulane this weekend to lock Tulsa into the seven spot anyway. The first game in Tulsa was competitive back when Tulsa was playing better. Tulane has improved over the year and Tulsa has been garbage away from home.
Xavier is one loss away from NCAA lock to no chance at a bid. The have two games left with DePaul and they need both just to get a shot at getting back into the bracket. Playing DePaul twice sinks the RPI due to the SOS numbers. Kenpom is sitting at 48 this morning which is right smack in the middle of the bubble. Add in the injury factor and you can pretty much discount the Muskies resume from early in the year which didn't have a whole lot on it to begin with. They just haven't been competitive in their last six games against NCAA tournament level teams which is why the power rankings have been sinking.

I don't think it's a lock that X would have to play that rd1 DePaul game if they win Saturday, but I haven't looked at every tiebreaker or anything. X playing in Dayton would be an interesting dynamic. On top of it, OSU is trying to creep back in the picture. If they beat IU and do anything in the BTT, X vs OSU in Dayton would be interesting.

Good lord. X has lost 6 straight and just gave up 88 and 95 in their last two home games. I'm not saying they don't deserve it because I have no idea what the other bubble resumes look like but if you're looking at their non-Sumner record which is the most relevant part of their record since he's not coming back what do they have 1 win?

Yep, and it was against an 8-16 team that lost to Rutgers and Illinois-Chicago (Depaul).

Wisconsin continues to tank. Loses at home to Iowa.
