Aresco promised to keep the liberty and Russell athletic bowls and he failed. He promised to keep the pinstripe bowl and he failed. He promised we would stay at the table and he failed. He promised to create a new bowl for us and he failed. So far i have seen nothing but promises in interviews but no results.

In 2013??

Yes. USM was supposed to lose to Houston in the 2011 CUSA championship game. They decided to win for some reason costing us all all big money. USM remains in CUSA while the rest of us CUSA schools got the call up to the AAC almost immediately after that spectacle of selfishness, pride and the dream of a conference championship trophy shown by USM. That's what happens to a school that selfishly thinks of its own self interests and not the interests of the conference. Let that be a warning to any one in the AAC for the future.
Cheers!

RE: Aresco doing work
Everyone wants to complain about what he has or hasnt done, but seriously answer what COULD he have done?

He lost the entire Big east, Notre Dame, Rutgers and Louisville right when he became commisioner. Every single team was looking to leave and was open about it. Nothing said stability. He did get us a ton of bowl games, a ton of exposure and kept us alive until we can grow and show we deserve to be here.

Honestly we cant say anything about him till 2019. If he goes out there and gets us more money, better bowls and some consideration when it comes to the playoff, then Ill be happy.

I hope for
1. TV contract with similar exposure with income of about $5-6 million per school.
2. Any content not chosen to be used by ESPN is reserved back to the individual school.
3. A decent bowl for our champ if they dont get playoff. Something like the Liberty Bowl against a top 4 (in their conference) Big 12 or ACC team.
4. Expansion of playoff to 6 teams with some type of path for two G5 to make it. I invision something like the top ranked G5 Champ, and if that champ isnt from the MWC or AAC, then the two champions have some type of tie breaker to decide who goes but if it is a champ from either those two, then only one G5 is guranteed access.
5. An increased percentage of the playoff money. Right now each G5 member makes a bit over $1.39 million a year off of the playoff. If each P5 conference was willing to give up a couple hundred grand they could move us to $2.5 million. Thats easily covered by expanding the playoff to 6.

It would be a minor nod to the success that the AAC and Boise st have had. Other option is for ESPN and Fox, to help move Boise St, BYU, and two others into the AAC and then gurantee us a slot in the Cotton bowl. Id like to see the Gurantee amount move up from $4 million to at least $8 Since the rose, Cotton and Orange all have private deals that are north of $30 million. Paying us only $8 at least adds a half million to each of our incomes.

All of that combined, plus NCAA monies and bowl payouts would put the AAC at about $11-12 million, which is half the ACC.... Id be happy with that and it would show that we are not G5. Still not accepted as P5, but at least able to separate ourselves. Then in 2025 when all hell breaks loose, maybe we reconstitute and become a new P6.
