Les deserved better than that and it isn't as if any change right now is going to do much for them.
It goes deeper than we know. He won an NC almost 10 years ago, got close in 2011, and squandered that one, not even making it past the 50 yard line with his obvious play calling. It's safe to say he's been on the hot seat since that game and his stubbornness to change things up. He peaked at LSU and while I'll miss him and the glory days, his time was up. A change right now can open things up like we've been waiting for since 2012. Time will tell, but his time was up before the year began.
I am 100% on-board with the change because I do think that his best days are behind him.
That said, you'd think that those glory days would have earned him a bit more than a swift kick in the ass and a pink slip.

Yeah but he knew it was coming. Everyone respects Miles as a person, but his heart isn't in it anymore. Had it been, he'd have changed things up. Hell, he'd have taken Jordan Jefferson out at halftime in the 2011 BCSNC game. I have a strong feeling that Etling is using the skills he attained as the QB at Purdue. We need a QB coach in the worst way.

I voted "TV analyst" in this poll. But the last option is funny.

But, I can't really tell if he has lost his drive to coach. If he hasn't then he can find himself a spot.
I could easily see him taking a year or two off and then taking over somebody like Kentucky.

If he's as dumb as people say he is, that may not be such a good fit. I'm with Terry on this one. Kick back and enjoy retirement. There are a lot of fish out there, and plenty of golf to be played.

I truly like and respect Miles, and I hope he does very good wherever he goes. His drive just wasn't in it anymore at LSU. Maybe a break is what he needs. Sleep on all the bad decisions he made, think about what he shoulda coulda woulda done to make things better or win a game, and then step back into the scene a changed man.

Briles is undoubtedly a Texas guy. Is from Texas, played in Texas, and has only ever coached in Texas.
Don't think either are SEC guys.
LSU gets a LOT of players out of Texas...part of their Louisiana base which is also very rich.
And it's not as if they wouldn't still get the best from Louisiana.
At this time LSU is the best job in Texas.
Maybe, maybe not. I believe UT will not stand for another year with just a good season under Strong. Man, would I love to be Herman's agent right now.
