Ok I'll bite but I'm thinking this will turn into a DavidSt style tin foil hat type convo. So how would that happen and why would the POTUS give a crap about a school going FBS.

While it would be great to join the ACC, I'd rather join the Big Ten first (best academics, exposure, and Liberty would have a geographic advantage in recruiting by being the southernmost school) or the SEC second. The ACC would be overcrowded with Virginia schools and private schools. The SEC may be best for Liberty's alumni, especially for the online portion. In my mind, you can't go wrong with any of the P5 conferences.

Now I didn't expect Trump to be elected President, and I didn't vote for him or Clinton. Falwell, Jr. has been very vocal and supportive of Trump, especially at a time when others were jumping ship. Maybe Trump will throw some sort of thank you back to Jerry that benefits Liberty, may not. If Trump were to do something to benefit Liberty like remove the conference invitation to move from FCS to FBS (a long shot for sure), could Liberty be punished as a byproduct, saying that Jerry wasn't just advocating for Trump on his own behalf and that he did it to benefit Liberty and thus lose Liberty's non-profit status? It could be a slippery slope but hopefully something good comes out of it for Liberty.

RE: NCAA has no room for LU
It's fun to do "what ifs" with the election decided and how it will effect the sports program of LU. And current reality is that LU cannot receive an invite from the entry level SBC, or C-USA or MAC FBS conferences. And ACC and SEC talk seems more than a pipe dream. It's more like an alternative universe. And it makes for entertaining talk as game day approaches with LU trying to win an autobid in the FCS Big South Conference.

NCAA has no room for LU
Since I didn't see the LU mention in the First 100 days talk going around, it must have been pushed back to day 101. : )

I think you're cray cray. We just need a invite. If we get one and then the NCAA steps in and says nope you can't move up because you are a Christian school then you'd be on to something.

That won't happen, because you would have the biggest lawsuit ever.

As far as invites go, JMU had the invite; however, they were dragging their feet at the time, so they lost it to Coastal Carolina (you guys didn't have the necessary facilities at the time).

Also, I don't think the NCAA is anti sectarian/non-secular; they just don't support state governments enacting anti LBGT laws, when the trend, federally, is protecting their rights.

That is not true. Our facilities are among the best in FCS, if not the best including better than Coastal Carolina. We were not passed over due to facilities unless (and more likely) we had too many good facilities and the Sun Belt was afraid of us outspending everyone else.

I'm talking about FBS level facilities.

I read several articles, which stated that your football stadium and facilities didn't meet FBS requirements at the time and JMU's did; in fact, JMU is the only FCS stadium that currently meets FBS standards (all they have to do is add a second level to their "visitor side," thereby adding the 5,000+ seats to meet the FBS 30,000 seat stadium requirement). You're stadium doesn't even hold 20,000, so tell me again how your facilities meet FBS standards; additionally, if you guys really believe there is an anti sectarian vendetta being waged by the NCAA, go have a chat with Baylor, TCU and SMU.

Isn't the seating requirement like 15k? I could be wrong but the rules from ancient times after the FBS/FCS split were 30k which hasn't applied in sometime.

The 15k requirement is for average yearly attendance (which has to be met once every two years). I figure the 30k thing was an old BCS/AQ conference thing, because all the BCS conferences were over 30k and the AAC (old Big East) still has that requirement. I guess if you're satisfied being in the CUSA, you can have a 15k person stadium like FIU and FAU. BTW, the reason JMU passed on the Sun Belt, was because they wanted to be in a better conference.

At this point I'm not picky who invites us.
